I pick the third watch. I Ike a white face with SS. I don't like a silver dial because I think it looks blah! Black dial looks too masculine to me

Thanks for the reply. I kind of think black is masculine as well. However, it comes in simple number representations which the white don't. Therefore ended up as one of my options;)

From the pictures, the Aqua Terra is a quartz whereas the 3 Rolexes are automatic. Which do you prefer. AT comes in auto too. I have both, Rolex 26mm though as both are very different. I tend to baby the Rolex little more cause it's pricey and wear the AT almost daily. My SIL however has the Oyster Perpetual, exactly like the first pic and she wears it daily. She's thinking of a Datejust now.

If you have made up your mind on a Rolex, go for 31mm datejust. Throw in the roman numerals and it's a classic that lasts you a lifetime.

Good luck.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Im still very new to watches therefore im not sure am i going for auto or quartz. Which do you think is more reliable and durable?

if i have more cash, i will definitely get one Rolex and one AT. AT for casual daily wear and Rolex for more dressed up days.

Sorry, whats the difference between the datejust 31mm and the oyster perpetual date? I went to the Rolex website and it seems that they do not have the datejust 31mm in roman numbers with white face.

Thank you!

Rolex is a very reliable watch and it also hold it's value very well even in the resell market. Therefore, if I have to pick one I will definitely go for Rolex. I prefer the one with the white face in mid size :)

Yup, one of the reasons why Rolex is 60% now compared to Omega 40% is the resale value. Im not planning to sell it soon but i would prefer something which has more resale value. Thanks

I was all set to get the Omega AT and found out that in real life it looked like pretty much nothing on my wrist. Very disappointed because I respect the quality and think the new design is very nice.

I happen to not like the Roman numeral design shown on the 34mm Date. To me it's busy, and not as elegant as the simple classic Romans of the 31mm and 36mm. Also, if you go with the 34mm Date you have to have the Oyster bracelet, so that choice is made for you--may be your choice but it wasn't mine.

I like the black or the white 31mm (chose the white myself). Rolex's white is stunning and fresh. Good luck!

Yup i agree that the Rolex white look fresh and the 34mm roman date is busy. But i feel that the Roman on white is classic and i'm so confused over which one to get.

With regards to the oyster bracelet, doesn't all oyster perpetual comes with the oyster bracelet?

Thanks.

Out of the ones you posted, I like the first one the best.

I'm your age and I have the datejust II- white face 31 mm, oyster bracelet, smooth bezel with line (aka baton) markers. Bought August of 2010.

Take a look (slightly blurry, sorry):

I LOVE having the white face...it's such a clean, crisp look and the shade of white is perfect. The line markers look well-proportioned on the 31mm face too. Let me know what you think of this model! I highly recommend it and am soo glad I picked this combination...it's a subtle Rolex look for sure.

Your watch is so pretty. I like the combination of line markers on white face and oyster bracelet. I can't seem to find this combination on the Rolex website.

Hi All,

Thanks for all your opinions. After reading all your suggestions, i've scaled down my options to a Rolex Oyster Perpetual white face with oyster bracelet in 31 or 34mm (the size i will go to the store to try.

1. Still not sure to get the roman numbers or simple lines version.
2. To opt for the date or not.

What do you think? is the rolex date part of the classic design?

Thank you!

Hey:smile1: Are you getting the one with date or without?

Definitely with the date. A 36mm datejust. So pretty.

Since I already own a RG/SS 36mm Datejust, DH suggested a watch from Cartier.
So as of now it's between the Rolex 36mm SS white dial/ roman numerals and the Cartier ballon bleu rose gold/ SS with a brown face/ roman numerals. :sweatdrop:

Difficult choice ahead!!

If you like the look of a big watch then 34mm is a great choice. I feel 31mm looks alittle too small. But do try it on. You will be the best judge.

Definitely roman numerals with the date. Such a classic plus I feel it gives the watch a little something else than the stick markers.
Just my two cents.
Good luck deciding and do let us know what you decide.

LOL! Great minds!!!
34mm/roman numerals/date...simply classic but feminine, too!
Can't wait to see what you choose!

The Rolex site has only some of what's available. Go to an authorized dealer and look, and ask to see the catalogue. There are tons of other Rolex options. Here's a site that shows the dial options: www.oysterworld.de

The DateJust has many more options that the Date, plus different sizes. There is really no DateJust in 34mm aside from some extremely costs Special Edition DJS: the normal sizes are 26, 31, 36, and now the new 41. So if you're set on 34 it's a Date, or an Air King.

You asked about the date feature on the watch: the magnification of the cyclops--the little glass bubble over the date area--is a Rolex classic feature. If you want a date on a watch, the DJ or Date is certainly the way to go.

About bracelets, the two main ones for the DJ are the Jubilee and the Oyster. There's also a more expensive bracelet called the President. The Jubilee is not offered on the Date, just the DJ (of the two you're considering; it's also available on other Rolexes).

To learn more, start visiting dealers and playing with the watches and talking to salespeople. You can go several times before buying: they're used to that.

They had to place an order for me at the watch authorized dealer. It took around 2 months to receive it. You can get almost any combination...dial colors/markers/size. It's awesome.

I'm a huge fan of the date bubble. I don't have a date bubble on my other watches and having it is so useful.

I don't think they make 34mm in the Datejust. I'm a fan of the 31 mm...just for reference I have a small wrist, 5.25 inches in circumference, 5'7 size 2.

I'm thinking of getting the 34mm Rolex myself. In fact, I spent an hour at an authorized dealer the other day, and I still can't make up my mind. I love that size and I think all stainless (or all gold) is nice in the bigger sizes. This watch has limited face choices, however. I'm not normally a fan of diamonds, but I like the diamond face best on this model and it's only available with the fluted bezel. I love the applied Roman faces too (like jellyv's above), also not available in this model.
The date-just has so many great options, but I feel like the 36mm is too big, and the 31mm too small. I have a 5.5 wrist.
Of your choices I would pick the 34mm with the white roman face (I have 2 other watches with white roman faces, so that's why it's not my first choice in this watch). If you have very very tiny wrists I would go with the 31mm.
Good luck and post pictures if you get it!
