Oh I know to what you are referring. So no newspapers, mags, etc...I don't think I do that w/ my bags right now anyways. Anyone else have any experience w/ this?

^^ y/w. Btw, if you DEFINITELY know you want the lobster small patent bowler, you could get her on the 20th through Saks and get some gc money. I've never seen a small bowler in midnight... That might be a MJ store exclusive. I've only see the large bowler in midnight at Nordy's.

OHHHHH that would be nice..is it that F&F deal everyone's talking about or is this different?

Oh, also, if there is "transfer" on patent leather, is there anything to clean it off or is it on there permanently?

The only place I've ever seen the small midnight blue bowler was at the Marc Jacobs boutique. I'm pretty sure both of the NYC boutiques are sold out. Not sure about any of the others.

Give Kay at the LV store a call about the small bowler in patent--she's very nice. She'll check for you.

And yes, the transfer to the patent is a PERMANENT thing. Oh--you also should pick up some patent leather cleaner if you get the bag and try it out on the bottom or something to make sure it'll work ok. But I think it'll be good for cleaning and protecting. You're not supposed to use regular leather conditioner/cleaner on patent.

You're welcome! Hmm, I don't know how often it should be cleaned... I don't think my cleaner said anything about how often... 2-3 times a year? It probably has a lot to do with how much you were to use the bag.

I don't think patent leather dries out. I've heard of it getting sticky or cracking. And the turning yellow if it's white. But I've got a pair of red baby shoes from when I was a baby (I'm now 31) and they look perfect! And they've never been conditioned... :p

Now I'm really thinking I should get midnight since I'm clumsy :wacko: . Knowing me, I might in advertently place the bag on something. Is it just ink that transfers or do I have to realllllly watch it? If that's the case, then I'll just go w/ the LV. I want a low maintenance bag.

I just came back from Nordstrom South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa CA). Currently available colors for Mini Bowler: Patent leather Black/Midnight/Chalk/Cola and Non-Patent leather Chalk/Black/Caramel. I spoke to a SA there, Nordstrom will match Bloomingdale's upcoming Friends and Family Event offer (20% everything) on 4/27. I got myself a mini Bowler for $840.45: $975 (regular price) - $195 (20%off) + TAX. Bloomingdale's is doing the Presale starting today so you can talk to a local Nordstrom SA about it, they either honor the offer today (presale had started) or on the actual event day (4/27); SA would ask a manager beforehand. I talked to another SA last Friday, Nordstrom is awared of Bloomingdale's event (clients ask about them whenever other stores have such offer). If you call Nordstrom SCP, ask for Marty (714.957.3604). Other SAs are super nice as well.

Some of the colors are also available at Nordstrom (can't remember the mall name) in San Diego.

Bloomingdale's Fashion Island (Newport Beach CA) has Mini Bowler in Patent Lobster/Black (can't remember the rest). Presale has started, you can call your local Bloomingdale's directly to place an order. If you call Fashion Island store, ask for Sarah (949.729.6729).

If your local store doesn't have the color of your choice, you can ask the SA to do a store inventory lookup & transfer (to your store or home - shipping is usually waived).

Unlike Speedy 25, Bowler has 4 protective metal feet on the bottom of the bag. If you leave the bag sitting up (huphup), only the feet would touch surfaces directly.

It doesn't seem to scratch too easily--you just have to be sure to store it in a felt storage bag and not put it up against things. I've only heard of light colored patents changing, like chalk... Hope that helps!

the speedy is such a classic bag, you can purchase that when you want, while this will be produced just for a few months.....

Ladies, you are welcome. -) I just hope members here don't think that I work for any of these stores. I always wanted some of these bags, the discount couldn't come at a better time.

I just called Bloomies in Fashion Island, Sarah won't be in until 5 pm today. I asked another SA (Allison) if Bloomies will do this Presale for non-local clients, the answer is yes (just ask about S&H). If anyone wants to purchase anything directly from Bloomies (that way, you don't have to ask for price-match) in Fashion Island, you can call 949.729.6729 & ask for Allison. They have a lot of Fendi (BBag & Spy) and Marc Jacob bags.

The feet will prevent the leather from touching any surface directly. I feel ok with them, I bought 2 MJ bags from this particular line (Patent Black Elise & Patent Chalk Mini Bowler)... =)
