My very best friend and I have the same ring. We shopped and looked at so many rings then finally found one that she absolutely adored. I took a picture and sent her fiancé the picture of the ring, and told him that this is the style of ring she wanted.

However, when he proposed, he purchased a ring just like mine, just in a different metal. At first she wasn't happy about it, and was going to change it, however, it was so perfect and looked amazing on her.
Having the same ring didn't and doesn't bother me at at all. I think it is pretty cool LOL

I have a closest friend at work. When my DH apgraded my ring i was so happy...I showed it to her first and showed to everyone my lovely ring! After 3 weeks my dear friend came to work with exactly the same ring like mine! It looks big than my ring because of 2 sets if round halo. So i guess a little bit different. I would be lying if i say im not mad. This my moment right? I kept quiet about it and asked her about it. " shocks it looks like yours!" And promised she will not wear it at work ( like huh?)
Now, everytime i see my ring it reminds mo of the fact we got the same ring from the same store not my DH:(
Should i ask her about this? Or should i just change my ring and tell my DH?View attachment 2422913
Help!
don't let anyone or anything hold you from your joy... you alone can let others bother you from being happy. who cares, just know that you are influencing people! this is your ring and enjoy it! xoxo

I disagree. If the ring had been custom designed, and was an unusual design, and the friend had a ring made that copied the design, that would be obnoxious. Getting a ring with a halo that can be found anywhere doesn't mean the original poster "owns" that design! The friend had every right to be inspired by it.

Yah, I agree with this idea. I mean, that's part of the problem with the mainstreaming of engagement rings to the masses. The 'sameness' was amplified once engagement diamond rings were pushed by certain corporations (ala 1950s).

I do like the halo idea, but I've heard many sellers talk about how it's very 'trendy' right now. So, I'm sure your friend might have seen that halo design before, but maybe you wore it so well she decided to get something similar? The same goes for single solitaire rings. I mean, everyone's designs are going to look pretty similar given the specifications of a single solitaire ring.

I think as many other posters have said, you need to move on and perhaps reflect on your own mentality about why you're upset. Why are you so consumed with other people's stuff? An engagement ring is supposed to be you and your partner's visual image of a shared love and a contract with each other. Who cares what someone else has.

Your ring is yours. Don't let your head talk you into negativity over something that's supposed to be joyous - a double halo is quite a different look to a single halo.

I have a RB solitaire in WG with 4 double prongs - I'm fairly sure I'll be seeing quite a few of those in my lifetime :D

Look at the varied responses in here. I'm with those who think you should let it go and it sounds like her ring isn't even exactly like yours. I've copied people and people have copied me (but now I know maybe to think twice about doing that lest I offend someone). You get inspiration from those around you.

It would be a bit much if she started even dressing like you (makes me think of that movie "Single White Female"). But when it comes to expensive purchases, seeing something IRL may influence purchase choices. I've seen people copy others' cars, jewelry, bags, etc, not e rings though.

i am okay with this.
she's my friend. dont bear grudges or let this ruin yr friendship. its just a ring and its not the ring you are wearing is some trademarks etc. anyone including yr friend can get it.
