Just managed to catch-up and was going to discuss about straps until I saw the update about the re-dyed bag. Thankfully you found out. For future, make sure you ask for more pictures for verification purposes. Good luck on the hunt

Hi All,

HOPE YOU ARE ENJOYING THE WEEKEND!

What is your opinion of this tricolour vintage Kelly 32. The box leather does not seem to Have the patina sheen. There are a lot of scratches. Is it possible to restore it? Is it worth it?

Box leather restores well.
Wether the scratches will disappear completely I cannot say but perhaps if you post the image in the Hermes Spa thread someone who has had their box bag sent to Spa could tell you.
Its always worth having a bag Spa'd by Hermes in my opinion just as its worth us going for a massage, facial or pedicure now and again!
My question is do you love the Tri-colour style? do the colours work with your wardrobe?
Its a personal thing.
Speaking for myself I actually don't like the tricolour bags I see them as more 'classic' I know a box leather Kelly is a classic so let me explain my personal viewpoint.
I imagine the tricolour looking best with tweeds and very much an English country dressing vibe it feels very autumnal too.
When I buy a bag I always think how I want to wear it and with a classic like the Kelly I want it to work with jeans or Shashiko patched french workwear as well as with a classic Black valentino dress or something by Comme DesGarcons or one of the Belgian designers...but that is me and only you know the vision in your head of what you see yourself wearing your Box kelly with.
Perhaps you could post a thread calling on tricolour Kelly owners and asking how they wear/style their bags?

You might want to post on docrides Lazarus thread for an opinion from a professional as to the condition

agree with @maxroxxherhandbags re tri color. I am not a fan., but if you love it, that’s all that matters

I have seen this bag as well and I think it looks structurally good as far as you can tell from the pictures. Hardware looks good, too, as far as I can see in the pictures. For me, it would be hard to integrate this colours into my wardrobe, but I personally like the bag as such.

Regarding the Sheen: polishing and moisturising can go a long way in both Sheen and scratch- blending. They won’t go away though, I would say.

I guess it won’t look pristine even after a regular spa at H but I think it could be quite good value for money if you are ok with signs of use and if the pictures are accurate of course. And, of course, if you like the bag as such and not just because it is a good deal. IMO, It is quite a special, highly individual bag. I guess you either love that … or not.

That is exactly what I meant with „fitting in the wardrobe“ you put it so well @maxroxxherhandbags . I agree, it would perfect with tweed and it would be the perfect autumn look.

There are for sure also other looks it would work well with.

Very valid points on the leather as well as the tricolour. Personally, I am a bit conflicted too about the tricolour. I do like it but certainly not love it!

To be very candid, you should love the bag!
Tri color bags have appeal but if you are conflicted, just pass & keep looking as I do sense the right bag
will come your way if you are not in a rush to find a "bag"...

It's totally normal, after getting excited about a purchase that doesn't work out, to want to find another bag quickly, and thus to get excited about something that isn't perfect for you. I think many of us have felt this! If you do not love tricolor, wait for a bag you DO love. Rouge H Box is definitely out there. Here is a small inspiration, a 1980 bag. Wishing you luck.
