OK, here is the pic of my $5 Nordstrom pearls.

This thread has been making me think: Today I sent a strand of "pearls" from Spain to my niece. Her dad, my brother, sent me a very pretty set of man made pearls when I was a teen, and he was stationed in Spain (Air Force) in the early 80's. He died from ALS several years ago.

She is in her 20's and I hope she enjoys them. They are beautiful, even as fakes.

Anyway, the $5 find! With messy hair and no makeup! I thought they looked nice when I spied them, and then $5! Impulse buy. I think they are very pretty in person.

Thank you Auberielle. :) I have been thinking of earrings now, and I might purchase these, on sale from Ross Simons. They are simple white gold 6mm studs, for $37.50+ship - not bad!

It seems like a decent price, I think 6mm will be a fine size (probably about the same as my fake pearl earrings), and they are white gold. I've never had white gold earrings before. I have bought CZ earrings and silver ball earrings from Target (I always lose them, gah!) but I like the idea of trying white gold and they are not too expensive. I was looking at Tiffany's 10mm bead earrings secondhand but those would be big, and I could likely get a similar pair for less.

I took a picture of the $5 pearl earrings with a pair of pearl and tiny diamond studs that my husband gave to me when we were dating. I'll post that later. I think that the suggestion of getting pearls with removable diamond enhancers is very smart!

I don't wear my pearl/diamond earrings that much, for several reasons -- don't want to lose them, they are just a little fancy for every day etc. (I should wear them more, at least to church!) I wore those earrings at my wedding, so they will always be special.

Let's talk about diamond earrings too -- I'm very interested in your search. Last night I was browsing at the Brian Gavin Diamonds web site and at well-cut diamonds for earrings. I was coming up with a pair of .30 diamonds (.60 TCW, I color, VS2, ideal cut) for $1,300, and mountings were around $200. Realistically, I think $1,500 would be about the *max* I'd be willing to spend on diamond earrings at this time. I think they would be very nice! (The diamond size is listed as 4.3 mm round, that doesn't sound bad.)

I'm sure there are ladies here with some great experience to share for your future purchases!

I have a pair of Tahitian Pearl studs and I think I wear them 4 days a week. I wear a lot of black so the dark gray/purple tones go well together.

Though I bought mine in Tahiti so it was cheaper at the source, but online you can get a good sized pair for around 80 to 100 bucks.

I love mine :-)

Let's see an ear shot of your new knots! I looked up the Dior tribal earrings and they are very interesting.

I have had a bad habit of not wearing earrings most days. But, I'm working on that! I've been looking at some small stud types and hope to build a small, inexpensive, great-looking everyday collection.

Here is a pic of what I'm wearing today -- my $5 Nordstrom rack "pearls". I love them! :D I feel lady-like when I wear them. :)

I am hoping to get a couple nice pairs of gold / white gold / maybe platinum earrings. Hoping to find some bargains on Ebay or something.
I've had these on my watch list for a couple days now:

Nordstrom Rack has great in-house brand earrings that are good quality, classy, and hypoallergenic. I have a few. :smile1:

I refuse to pay over $200-$300 for earrings anymore. I always lose one of them and end up devastated. I NEVER lose my cheapies. I have some from 10 years ago that cost about $30 but every time I get an expensive pair one earring ends up missing :crybaby:
