HELP! Dye rubbing off?

I was finally able to take my bag in to Coach to see what they could do. The SA wasn't sure they could fix it under warranty since it was a dept. store exclusive even though it was showing up in their system. She told me she had to check with someone else then would call back the following day. No call the following day so I gave them one more day then called back myself. Talked to a different SA and he said they'd be able to fix it, but depending on whether Coach deemed it customer caused or not, I may have to pay to have the handle replaced. I wasn't really thrilled with having to send my month-and-a-half-old bag in and possibly have to pay to have it fixed, but if it's what I had to do...

My husband had the bright idea to take it in to Dillard's to see if they could do anything even though it was past the 30 day return period. Worst case, I just drop if off at Coach for repair if they couldn't, best case I come out with a new bag. Lo and behold, they let me return it and gave me store credit! Unfortunately, they had no other chalk bags in the store. I ended up with the new edgestain Swagger. At first I was really disappointed to have to part with chalk, but I haven't looked back since I got the edgestain bag. It's just so unique! It's kind of relieving to know that I won't have to baby this one like I did the chalk.

Well I'm sorry you had to return Chalk, but your new bag is gorgeous! It will be easier to enjoy your edgepaint swagger since its black :D

Most definitely. I wasn't sure another black Swagger would fit in my collection (I already have the large size in black/ghw), but I think this one is different enough. My favorite and most worn colors are black, white and turquoise so it was meant to be!

I'm glad you ended up with a new beauty to enjoy! I will add my two cents about the coach cleaner though. I'm not a huge fan to be honest, and I only use it in desperate cases since it tends to lift color and leave the leather kind of sticky even when used sparingly. I do a lot of cleaning with just leather moisturizer (Cadillac specifically), and I find it's pretty effective at removing light soiling and protecting.

Thank you for this. I'm definitely going to be more cautious with the Coach cleaner and will check out the one you recommended.

It looks like you may have been a little overzealous with your constant cleaning and accidentally cleaned the color right off..LOL. I'm glad you were able to get a new bag you love!

I'm sorry this happened to you but I'm glad you were able to return and get a new bag. I don't think cleaner is the best option when used regularly. If you had used conditioner, it would have put on a layer of protection rather than removing one. Whenever I have a bag I'm concerned about, particularly light colors, I condition often. If this happens to you again, there are paints and dyes that can be used to cover these kinds of spots successfully.

Glad to hear Dillards stood behind the product, as for Coach, not very good backup for a bag that new... sadly some things just don't seem to change no matter how much they claim otherwise.

Love to see the new bag!

i have the same bag too & my problem is on the bottom. i barely keep anything in it so its not overstuffed, yet the leather keeps rubbing off on the bottom by the feet. went to coach & they strongly recommended using conditioner also. i dont think this problem is fixable since its a white bag... the boutique said if it was black, i would never notice the wear.. i admit, that is true but it still stinks.

Thank you. This makes me feel better in my decision to replace the white with a black one. My boutique said the only way to fix it would be to replace the handle. Guess you can't exactly replace the bottom of a bag like in your case! That really stinks you're having the same problem. I did use conditioner so I really have no idea. My Swagger 20 in chalk never had this problem.
