Along the line of what Compass Rose said about grapeseed oil, I highly recommend extra virgin coconut oil. You can get a tub for about $10 at the health food store. It's white and solid in room temperature, but when you rub a glob together it melts in your hand. Just put cover your hair with it and massage in a bit, cover with a towel or take a hot bath while wearing a shower cap to create heat, leave it on for 30 minutes, and wash out with shampoo.

My mom's hair was frizzy dry from a perm and I got her hooked on it. I try to do it once a week myself. Bonus, you can use it to remove eye make up.

I got a perm back in June. It looked nice at first but it's all tangle and matte now. I can't even brush it through. The brush would caught dead in my hair and if I pull really hard the brush would break. There is alot of breakage too.

Does anyone have this problem too? What product will help and strength my hair? To make it smooth and shiny again? Thank you.

I too have a bottle of coconut oil. It's in solid form when cooled. I tried the coconut oil but it's just too oily. I think I used too much. I have very long permed hair. How much oil should I use?

Well the first time, the weather was warm enough that it all melted, so I just dipped bits of hair in and spread the oil out with my fingers. It was damp but not soaked.

That was the best one. I never bothered to melt it after, maybe 5 or so small globs smooshed out with two fingers is my standard.

Why did you think you used too much? You do have to make sure you wash the oil out completely, otherwise it gets kind of limp.

I had an idiot hairdresser put blond highlights in my black hair (supposed to be mahagony highlights) and the bleaching and processing ruined my hair. I used bumble and bumble's creme do coco masque and it saved my hair.

Other good deep treatments:

Wen Re Moist Intensive Treatment
Lush H' Suan Wen Hua Hair
Joico K Pak deep reconstructor (sally's has the generic version of this dirt cheap)

bumble & bumble coco masque
redken extreme fuel

i like k-pak and bumble and bumble deep but they are more protein based restructuring treatments, they might not make your hair feel different because they are impacting your hair on a deeper level (might not feel different but it's still doing something!)

I like sebastain potion 9 for a leave in conditioner. or fekkai glossing cream. I also sometimes use nexxus humectress as a leave-in because my hair is really dry.
For conditioners, I use a lot of oils. I also love aussie 3 minute miracle (cheap too!)
You may want to look into a protein conditioner like sebastian emergencee or apogee. Good luck!
