Help! Deep conditioning for my fried permed hair!

This might be a long shot for you, but my hairdresser told me that grapeseed oil is absolutely fabulous to condition hair, as it will enter the hair shaft itself (I think it is called the cuticle). Just go to your health food store and get a bottle and put some in a little dish about 4 or 5 tablespoons and heat it up on a very low setting for about 30 seconds in the microwave if you care to or not, and then put it on your hair and wrap a damp towel around your head and give yourself a manicure while you are waiting. I'd leave it on for about 30 minutes and then shampoo. I've heard that olive oil will do the same thing, but some people disagree with it and say that olive oil doesn't help. I think it does for my hair, and I am a bottle blonde.

I recently digital permed my hair and realized it fried a lot of my hair :crybaby: I was hoping you guys could recommend some deep conditioning products.. nothing too expensive please!!

I am not sure if they offer conditioning products specifically for permed hair but if they do, please list them!

TIA! :smile1:

also.. noted by socaltrojan: "Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment is amazing! It will help rebuild and strengthen your hair."

i second that.. that is THE best stuff. don't let the smell put you off. its works.. take it from a girl that had very damaged hair.. all fixed now.!!

Slightly off topic - OP, if you had to do it over again, would you get a digital perm again? I am debating between thermal reconditioning and a digital perm, and leaning towards thermal recon. I would love to know your thoughts.

Wow! Hmmm they are the total opposite, no? I don't know much about thermal reconditioning but if I stand correct that is straightening your hair and digital perm is curling.

Digital perm is great, I do like it especialy with the right cut it looks great. Before I got this digital perm however I already had dry damaged hair but took the chances anyway, and it still came out the way I wanted it to be! (except for some of the fried hair). If your hair right now is damaged I would go for the thermal reconditioning? But it also depends on if you are wanting that straight or curly hair. Goodluck though! Straightening your hiar is always less damaging than curling.

You are absolutely right - they are opposites. I have had the thermal reconditioning done a few times, but am a little tired of that look. However, as I have slightly frizzy hair, I am a little scared to go curly and have it be a gigantic mess. It's been about 8 months since I've had anything done, so wasn't sure which way to go. I guess it's more of a personal decision...but just thought I would get your input as to whether or not you'd do it again. Thanks for your help! Unfortunately, I am still confused.:shrugs:

You said you were looking for something inexpensive. I've used Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask - the one that's in a jar. You can get it at any drugstore. I got it at Walgreen's. It works really really well. It says on the back to leave on 3-5 minutes. Well, I shower, wash my hair, get out of the shower, and leave this on my towel dried hair for 30-45 minutes. I wrap my hair in a hot towel from the dryer and then 30-45 minutes later I wash it out. My hair feels so much softer and really shiny when I'm done.

My hair is really dry from coloring and heat styling on a daily basis. I'm not saying it's the best conditioner in the world but for the price (I think it was $6-7 at Walgreen's) and convenience I highly recommend it.

For daily conditioning, I've used Redken's All Soft products which I think are great and Nexxus Humectress was my go to back in the day when I permed.

Hope this helps! Let us know what ends up working best for you, OK?

Right now I'm using Pantene Restorative, and Aussie's 3 Min Miracle. I've been meaning to try Queen Helene's Hair Cholesterol, because of the awesomeness of their Mint Julep face mask, but the name kinda makes me give it second thoughts.

...would you mind posting pics? I'm considering a digi perm, but I haven't touched my hair w/anything for over 2 years so I'm nervous! also, where did you get it done? I'm about an hour south of NYC! TIA:tup:

Please give Naked Rescue Intensive Repair & Renew Hair Treatment a go. This hair mask saved my life. I also use it now & then as a detangler. It's truely amazing.

I like to keep the hair mask in for as long as possible (so it's best to do this in the evenings when you're staying in at home), Just to make sure that it absorbs into your hair completely (which is does, very well). Cover your hair with a shower cap or whatever you'd prefere to use, for best results.

After you've washed the conditioner out of your hair & before you start applying loads of product, if you do... DON'T :wtf:

Spritz a little of The Body Shops Bilberry Color Protect Detangler all over your hair, comb in (this spray makes combing your hair so much easier & smells incredible) then leave your hair to dry naturally.

This is literally all it takes to save your hair & imediately bring it back to health.

I always use Redken all soft, But once or twice a month I shampoo cap,(which just means let it sit, with a shower cap on) Extra virgin Olive Oil, and wash it out, and more conditioner, The olive oil acts as an intensive treatment
