Which brings me to this observation: I've been surprised by how some pieces can appear *shorter* IRL than they do on the models (and I always expect the opposite, because I'm only 5'2"). The models usually wear XS or S, but when I receive the item, sometimes it's WAY shorter than it looked in the photo. Maybe they do some kind of modeling/Photoshop magic to make his pieces look longer and drapier on the models...?

so so true! I'm only 5' so I always think the tops that hit the models at the hips will be long enough on me (I like long), and then sometimes I have to get a medium or large to make it cover my butt!

Kristy, I totally agree about some of their pieces being shorter IRL than how they were pictured on the model! And I'm almost 5'11" so it's surprising that you (being so petite) have the same problem too. :thinkin: Many times I've bought a top that gives the impression that my butt will be covered and I get it and yeah, it sure doesn't. I'm starting to get much more comfortable with HL sizing but sometimes I get thrown a curveball and I want to tear my hair out. ARGH!

BTW, I LOVE that cardigan you got. It looks absoluely TDF soft and so snuggly!

I know, right?? If some of these HL pieces run short on me, I can't even imagine how short they look on you!!! And by the way, "snuggly" is the perfect way to describe the gray cardigan. It's like wearing a cloud! Pretty amazing considering that it's 95% wool!

I appreciate hearing everyone's experiences with sizing. Kristy- that sweater is amazing! I agree with model pictures- I think that's why I tend to fear sizing ing down is for the front being too short despite how flowy everything else.

I'm glad it's not just me. :p And if you love HL, I highly recommend this cardigan. It's the softest thing I own!!

Seriously, it can be so annoying! But I'm willing to put up with some sizing inconsistency because I just love the HL aesthetic. :smile1:

Does anyone by chance own this cardigan?

I'm not sure if I should buy it in a small or a medium. I usually wear a small in most brands as I'm fairly petite (5'2") but I'm on the bustier side (32D/DD) and I'm worried that I'll "flatten" the draping if I get the small. The only Helmut Lang pieces I own is a flowy jersey top that I purchased in a small and a knit cardigan that I purchased in a medium because the small was really tight on my arms.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I actually own that in black and I'm also very petite. I bought it in P-XS and it fits perfectly. There's a lot of drape to this top so having a large chest shouldn't affect the look too much. I'm 5'1.5", 108lbs, 32B and the XS is perfect. The arms are very fitted.

Hmm. Maybe I'll swing by Neiman Marcus and try it on in a S tomorrow after work then. Thanks!

Hey there, great to see helmut lang fans have their own topic here!

I just bought my first pair of leather HL pants, the classic stretch ones.
Do you have experience with these?

I bought them in a size 4 , for reference i am a 27 or sometimes 26 in jeans, 58kg for 1.74m
They fit me perfectly right now, i even have a tiny bit room left in the waist band but do have to stretch it slightly to get them over my hips.
Now i'm scared that they will stretch too much and the pants will be "baggy" after a few wears...should i get a size 2 or will the stretching be minimal?

( i bought them online so not easy to decide )

Anyone?

The sizing is chaotic!
I bought a size M in the classic jeans and they're so small I can't even do up the buttons!
I'm a straight up medium in most items and I thought being Austrian he would have larger and longer. It seems to be style that's developed for the Asian market. I wish I'd seen this thread earlier, you win some you lose some, I guess.
