Heads Up! Diamond Prices are about to SKYROCKET

This is why I am anti diamonds, honestly. They are not rare, nor are they valuable but their supply is tightly controlled by a cartel and their price inflated artificially. (As opposed to gold and platinum, which are scarce in nature and therefore genuinely precious.)

If OP is correct, my response would not be to rush out and buy diamonds at their already offensive price - it would be to ignore the hype as before.
Agree with you 100%! Found an article recently that companies like Le Vian are repurposing brown diamonds as "chocolate" diamonds and jacking up the price when in history they were used for industrial purposes and not rare.

If you're on the fence about a purchase right now and you have your eye on a stone RIGHT NOW, get it RIGHT NOW.

There's an imminent 20+% jump coming.
Ame, I corresponded with a trusted vendor regarding price increases and they confirmed what you're reporting. Rough prices have been going up already. Cutting and polishing prices are also on the rise. These will start to be reflected in the market over the next 20-45 days for the .9-2 ct range you mentioned. I'm so grateful for this forum....I've been on the fence for the longest time about buying, mainly because it is such a large purchase. But if my budget will get impacted, best to go for it now.

Do you think it will affect the bigger diamond like 4 to 5 cts? If so, how much percent? I am still trying to find the stone. Thanks

A price increase will affect all sizes, but how much outside the primary range I gave originally I really couldn't say. I don't suspect it will be *as* painful.

Ugh. I've been thinking about splurging on big studs for ages. Have no idea what I want to do now! I think my dream studs would be 1.5 ish each but I need to try them on.

I am in same boat as you! It's time to bite bullet! I tried on pair that were 3.24 tcw and they were perfect size. But I have bigger ear lobes. Problem is they were I1 and I am really trying to hold out for stones that don't have visible inclusions. This will probably up the price! So now I am debating going down in color to I for S1 stones (vs G color). So many decisions! And now I feel like I'm under the gun! I want these to be my dream earrings and don't want to upgrade!

I would definitely go down in color for studs to I-J if you can swing it. First of all the impact on price that color makes vs clarity is more significant per carat. But unless you plan to reset them later into a ring besides a whiter stone, you won't really notice any warmth on your head ;)

Thanks ame! You are so very helpful!
