My thoughts on Tharpie, too many pockets for mois. I love a few pockets on the outside, standard HH pockets on the inside, but I LOST shizz in my (cough, vag! eerrrr) Tharpe w all of those pockets. I guess if I had it again, I'd just commit not to use all/most of them. The size and shape are phenomenal. Gorg. The pockets are just too tempting, and I just can't resist, though!!!

Sally - how will you do with the lack of crossbody options? I love my Tharpes but I don't take them out for serious shopping because I can't wear them crossbody.

Sigh..you're totally right MB. I just keep hearing others rave about them and wonder what's wrong with me...

I am longing for the reappearance of the wyeth tote.

Sally I'm so with you...I think we've got similar bag-wearing styles. I loovve the way the Tharpe looks & always have. But, I can't afford another bag I love to look at & only use once in a blue when I'm going out in a car or something...I already have a legion of those-woefully underused. It's just totally impractical for my needs. Maybe I should create a wallpaper with pix of all the HH bags I love but can't use & paper the inside of my closet with it:-) Though I guess Tharpe could star in it's own edition & I could put it in the Bedroom with all it's phallic suggestivity. Yea, I kno-thats not a word, but i don't care. Happy day everyone...

Lulu - help talk me into or out of a tharpe. I am totally on the fence about this style. Worried about the open top and rain.....
Can it carry an ipad etc??/

Alright Sally I'm going to talk you into it but it sounds like if you like crossbody bags. The wyeth is were it's at.

The Virgo in me loves all the pockets. Once you get a system down for where to put stuff you can easily have access to everything you need without digging around. It's all laid out for ya. I carry my ipad in it no problem! I keep mine in the back so it's in the part closest to my body. The front pocket the little one on the front is great for keys. I never loose them. The side pockets are awesome for Gum, candies, business cards. The interior has 2 PDA pockets, great for iphone and the other for a compact. The center divide zip pocket is great for small bits of paper, or as a make shift makeup bag. I call it the dumping ground. It's the only part of the bag I don't keep organized.

OK now here is a crappy iphone shot of my bag today. This is the messiest it's been.

Everything that is inside today: an Ipad, a huge makeup bag full of sample nail polishes, HH carryall, Bal Money Wallet, Bal coin purse, Bal mini mini, Keys, Phone, HH eyeglass case, gum, candies, I did have a 20 0z of soda in there too but didn't take a pic of that. I still had plenty of room to spare.

Now on the the gaps vs rain argument. I've never had a problem with in both in heavy rain or snow. When it's on the shoulder the gaps are mainly covered by your arm. I've never had anything get wet in my handbag during a rainstorm. If I were concerned about my ipad getting wet I might keep it in a water proof case but so far I haven't felt the need to do that. It feels safe and protected in there.

Great LuLu, you're calling me over to the Tharpe side...Is that Cordovan? It fits a 20oz bottle?! Wuuhht? how 'bout a magazine &/or small notebook? Hey, I'm a Virgo too:-) I hadn't really connected my love of outside pockets on bags with my love of "a place for everything/everything in its place..." Naturally it's the most expensive bag on my list besides the Barnard. I think it's time to invest in some professional cleaning & try to re-home some of the "closet prisoners" as someone else put it so well

Hmmmm.. Virgo's for Tharpe's? LuLu that's about everything I was going to say! The Tharpe works well on my shoulder summer OR winter. NP over a heavy coat. I have a Yam and an Oyster, (mostly because I LOVE the lining!)

The Tharpe is not too smooshy,is not too structured and tends to be my fallback bag - the one I use when I am not really sure what I feel like! Also, I can fit my knitting (socks), Ipad, clutch wallet, water bottle (16 oz.), and various conference-type papers.
Maybe it's my Virgo-ness!

Yup it's Cordovan & I think you can see where I kept the 20 oz bottle. In the back compartment near the ipad. I've carried magazines in my tharpe. Not giant vogues or martha stewerts or anything like that but lucky mag fits pretty well. This is for sure a bag for people who love the a place for everything/everything in its place.

LOL @ closet prisoners
