I'm considering the Tharpe in Ruby and would like some reviews from those who own this bag. Do you like it? Is it easy to get in and out of? What's the leather like? Please modelling and close-up pictures if you can! Thanks!

I don't have one, but I tried one on. My impressions were that it is smaller than it appears on the HH website (big surprise, NOT), very soft and comfy, and has great pockets and organization. HTH

I'm also interested in the answer to this question (bump)

Do any other HH bags have the same type of leather as the Tharpe? Or does the feel of the leather vary by color and not by bag style?
Is it the natural/unfinished type of leather, or does it have any gloss to it? The Ruby color looks glossy, but the Grey color looks matte.

(I have an Inka Hobo and had a Mercer wallet for comparison's sake. The Inka has a natural sort of leather and the Mercer has a nice thin buttery smooth leather.)

Love this Grey Tharpe! Does it look blue-grey IRL like it does in the picture?

My friend has a black Tharpe. The leather is soft but sturdy enough to give the bag shape. The flap is easy to get into (and you can just stick your hands into the bag w/o flipping the flap up). Color is matte, not shiny.

That is a pretty accurate picture of the color and leather texture. It is a soft matte leather, but not thin.

The pockets on this style are great, especially the outside ones that close with magnets (easy to get in and out of) and the sections inside. It can get a bit wide depending on how much you put in it, but is comfortable to carry.

I returned a Tharpe in oyster and it was a subdued metallic finish. I don't really like HH metallics- they don't have the soft smooshy leather that the other HH bags have. I bought and also returned the bowery clutch in ruby. I love the ruby color, soft pretty leather, but the color was splotchy looking, almost like water spots and when I asked the HH customer service, they told me that the vintage leathers will sometimes look like that.

I really like the Tharpe and still plan to get one sooner or later, but it was definitely flatter looking in real life. Luna boston had some pretty good pictures of the Tharpe.

Lol. Same here...same here.

ETA: Crap. I didn't realize this thread is old! Sorry! LOL!

Great Thread revival. Now with new tharpes on the horizon this will be a good place to talk about the tharpe.

I've had many in my collection over the years. It's become of my favorite shapes. I currently only have 2 in my collection. Black and Cordovan. Sir Yammie went back to her momma. I can't wait for the new ones to arrive. I hope they make some fun colored ones and all the wonderful details I love about the tharpe will still be there.

ITA. I hope there will be TONS of color choices for the Tharpe and that the details are pretty much unchanged. It's such a comfly bag for me to carry and just organized enough. I hope they've kept the center divider.

Hello, HHotties! We're working on getting the first run of Tharpes to go live later tonight. We will be running her in our rustic pebble leathers & vintage patents. Both leathers will be gorgeous on la Tharpe. We're all very excited that she's back!

The Tharpe is incredibly true in detail to our original design. Interior center divider is still there :)

Oh rustic pebble leathers. one of the details I love is the HH stamping on the luggage tag. Is that one of the details that will remain? I noticed it wasn't there on the peacock sample.
