The irony of the "pirates" theme is just too much!!

So not impressed that they are now selling 2nd hand clothing. Nothing against vintage, just not a great sign to me that that's the direction they are forced to go in.

I like this post!

I do agree with what Kate's saying about the vintage clothes. However, the fact that HH has been selling more and more third party lines concerns me.

I would normally think it was a bad sign but good vintage is so picked over and impossible to find in NYC that people who have a source out of state or upstate often sell clothes and antiques in good condition at very high markup in boutiques. Scoop sells some vintage items as do other boutiques. So it isn't really that unusual. Most "vintage" stores in NYC just sell recent secondhand clothes and if you want something retro and in nice condition you have to pay $$$ for it. Isn't Toni from the South? Maybe she is picking things up on trips.
Anyway I'm too old for vintage. At this point it just looks like my own old clothes.

When I read the email I thought that maybe toni had raided the back rooms and her own closet and gathered up all the older HH bags to sell.

Paelaf - I'm with you. Sorry but this is one more hottie who does not like going into vintage, second-hand or consignment stores very much. I had to go to a thrift store this week to buy some stuff for my art class and I've bagged it tightly and left it in the garage until I have to take it to class.

I'm with you Pae and Sally. I'm not one to enjoy a trip through consignment/vintage/second-hand stores. Maybe it's just where I live, but all I seem to find is pure junk and the places reek. I just feel gross after going through it all. I'm all about vintage jewelry and even accessories (belts, wallets, bags) but I can't do the clothes/shoes thing (unless they were never worn). I just have to save money on those things by shopping at Ross/TJMaxx/Marshalls and buying new.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I heard back from the seller yesterday really promptly. Though everything is not resolved yet, I think she's a class act. Not going to share all the details but will say she had a reasonable explanation. Now I'm hoping I can solicit a little more advise from you experts. She offered to allow me to return the bag at her expense or, if I still want to keep the bag, suggest a price that I think is reasonable. I'm thinking I do want to keep it.
I don't want to post details and pictures publically, but would anyone with "classic HH" pricing experience be willing for me to PM? Pretty please?

Just wanted to provide a quick follow up. The seller was truely wonderful and everything was resolved to both our satisfactions (we agreed on a partial purchase price refund). I would whole-heartedly recommend this seller to anyone! And I am now the proud first-time owner of a Cobalt Inka. It is love! I have owned a Havana for sometime and after admiring my mom's Inka forever, I jumped on this one. And, wow, is the Cobalt a beautiful color!
This experience just confirms that there are still sane, rational people on the Bay. :D

I only recently started thrift store shopping and am sort of obsessed (this week I got a practically new Theory blazer for $14). But it is a PiTA (so much laundry!) and I can totally see why people would hate it.

I expect the HH vintage will be over-priced although I am curious to see what they have.

What post on facebook, pigalle? I saw her last name Hacker (Harnett) on her own FB page that you are talking about but did she post something about it?

ETA: don't people normally use their new name and put their old/maiden name in parenthesis on FB? :shrugs:
