Hey Fleur, I am probably no help on this one. I have items on the ISO, but I also have a list of items looking for/wanted, which have more things on it.(maybe I should transfer it all to the ISO list?? I also will impulse buy:nono: on something that is great deal on the bon/bay(or elsewhere!), because it looks appealing, and I want to try it.
I keep a list of everything, in alphebetical order(easier to locate) with the name, color, and price paid.

Fleur - I keep a list of bags I have - each category on an index card. I even indicate colours - so for example, under cross-bodies I have a list of how many black ones I have and what colours I have. I also write any notes beside it - like - med-size, small etc. So if a cross-body pops up - like the Barnard the other day - I can look at my list and see quickly that I have quite a few cross-bodies. On the other hand, I had already noted on my work bag list that I didn't have a leather bag that carried files and had a shoulder or messenger strap. I have lots of large bags that are good to take to work - like trophies - but when I carry a bunch of files or a laptop - I really didn't have any good bag. Catalina had been on my HG list for a year and I double-checked my index card and then went for it. So I know I had a gap and I knew which bag would fill it. The Miu miu bow purchase came about after I had identified that the satchel category was pretty slim - what makes it a good buy for me is that it also has a shoulder/cross-body strap (as does the pallenberg duffle) so can be in different bag categories. They do double duty and show up on the satchel card as well as the cross body card. Actually the bow is on satchel/cross-body and the pallenberg is on satchel/shoulder. If I see a bag I really want that is similar to other bags I have I need to figure out if it is BETTER in some way than the ones I have and if so, which of the ones I have would I sell in order to get that new similar bag?

The lists have also helped me see what bags I want to sell. I'm a newbie seller but have put together a list of the ones that I want to sell and am getting ready to do it. I always want to get the new bag first and try it out to make sure it is the better choice and then sell the one that is a dupe and not as good as the one I got.

As far as insurance goes. Your talking to the right person. It's what I do for a living. The company I work for does specialized insurance for Jewelry, Body parts, Luxury goods on top of the normal stuff. This might be a bit over the top for you but here is what I do for insurance reasons. I've got a binder with an Inventory list of all the bags/smalls including their purchased value.. I've got a picture of me holding each item (important so insurance companies know you had it in hand) then I keep each receipt or if it was a trade I include a print out of what the retail value is at another site (HH, Bluefly, etc.) with a note of what I thought the approximate trade value was. I keep that in my safe at the bank along with a flashdrive copy of all the pictures & inventory list.

I'd start small and just start keeping your receipts in a folder tucked away in a fireproof safe and keep it as part of your homeowners/renters policy. I wouldn't seek out additional insurance until you've got over 6,000.00 in value.

This is excellent advice, LU! Thank you so much! I had no idea about the picture with the item, but that completely makes sense now! I'm going to copy this down right now. So, just so I understand...unless I have over $6,000 in handbag items, I don't need additional insurance? or if I have over $6,000 in all categories of stuff combined?

I love your list idea, sally. I really need to use that index card plan. I think your idea of buying the new bag first and then selling whichever doesn't work out is brilliant. Too often I have sold something only to get the new item and not like it as much as the thing I sold!

I'm kinda like you, 2many. I have an ISO list (the items I've put on the thread here) but I also have my "save for later" Bon list and my "watch list" on the Bay and post-its with items I saw and liked and want to think about for later. I should probably just make one long list and put them in order of how badly I want them....:thinkin:

I was about to say Moss Havana.:drool: That was my first ever HH bag.

I think it is Moss. It has the black floral silk lining. The leather feels kind of thin to me. It has a front pocket and came with a tassel and chain. It has either light yellow or cream stitching.

It seems like it is made backwards to me. The exterior zip pocket is on the side with the slip pockets.

Yes unlesss you've got over 6,000 dollars worth of handbags and smalls it's not worth it to add additional insurance. IMHO. That is what we normally recommend. I would keep it in your itemized homeowners policy.

Seeking out additional insurance would (depending on how many items you own) add an additional 2-3 dollars to each items cost per wear. So you'd either have to have 1 really amazing bag to make it worth while or about 50 or more items with decent value to bring the cost per wear down. KWIM

I have the matching carryall with the black floral lining and contrast stitching. I know what you mean about the feel of that leather. I even conditioned it because I thought it felt dry and it didn't actually make any difference. So it's not because the leather is dry - I think that is how it is meant to be.

Yup that sounds like moss. It was my HG bag for awhile. Since I missed my old one so much but I gave up hope of ever finding one again.

LOL 2-many I would drool about the ICP lorca but yuppers we've got 1 already. I sold all my other Lorcas because I love this one so much.

I gotcha, Lu!

What do you use to condition, Sally? I have some Leathermagic stuff I use to protect my bags (doesn't seem to work all that well though because I've gotten denim transfer more than I would've liked!) but I don't know what to buy to condition them...
