Have you ever been BURNED by ebay?

hi,
Paypal agrees with the seller and makes you prove it is a fake instead of asking proof of authenticity from the seller. They do not protect the buyer.Be careful and go to a store before leaving feedback.

We've had a few duds in my family. My dad won an auction for a larger item from England, and it arrived 90% ruined because of bad packaging alone. He'd unfortunately paid through a Paypal bank transfer, and there wasn't anything we could do. When we complained, the seller told eBay that the issue was resolved, and they wouldn't listen to us. He kept the original amount AND the insurance.

Another time it was an antique item that was inaccurately described, and when I contacted the seller, she got all nasty and even bid on an item I was going for. I let it slide because the negative wouldn't be worth the grief.

There was one that still makes me chuckle a bit though. I won a relatively cheap magazine, and the seller sent me the wrong item. I returned it to her, had the postal receipt no less, and she kept saying she never received it so she wasn't going to send out the item I'd won. I wish that I'd negged her, but oh well.

Whoever said you'll never get burned if you use Paypal is simply naive. Paypal does NOT protect neither buyer or seller. Read Paypalsucks.com and you'll see what I'm talking about.

As a buyer, bought a fake once and was able to get money back. As a seller, sold a bag and buyer paid with stolen funds and got shot with a chargeback.

And just another story to share with you guys, a friend of mine bought expensive bike parts on ebay and paid with a checking account thru Paypal in the amount of 2000-ish. Seller lied, first saying he shipped the item thru some bogus-never-heard-of-shipping-company, then finally admitted that he never shipped the item. Made a claim via Paypal and guess what? Only got 175 back and the case was closed by Paypal. No explanation, no nothing, just a damn 175. The whole thing about buyer protection policy up to 1000 is often BOGUS!

I just got burned recently.I won a LV Alma.Everything in the pics looked good to me,so I bid,and won. Then the seller sent me more pics, one of the bottom, and the bottom of the bag was HORRIBLE!Not even leather,it was monogram, with brass feet! UGH! So I emailed her and told her I wanted my money back (I had sent her the money order before she sent the other pics). She sent me an email today agreeing to send my money back.I sure hope she does, because I'd hate to have to report her! In my email I reminded her that selling fakes was not only against eBay policy, but against the law,and I would have no problem reporting her if I needed to.I also said I would be happy to leave her positive feedback if she returned my money (I consider that good customer service if she does so,which warrants at least a neutral feedback).I hope that never happens again. From now on,I'll be bugging you ladies to authenticate every auction I'm looking at!LOL

Yep, been burnt on a Kate Spade and a Burberry, it was not the most positive experience. On the flip side though, I did get an authentic Kate Spade and a Coach. I just know that all purchases moving forward I will be asking for help here first!

 burned twice by ebay

first I bought a super fake Gucci hobo last year for around $700:sick:

then bought a superfake LV BH for about $550.

Both had used stolen pics and both are no longer registered users. I got my money back for bothy less shipping and now I do all my research before bidding on bags because the counterfeits are so rampant and Ebay really doesn't seem to care :hrmm:

That's not true. You may want to check this out: http://www.paypalsucks.com/ (Mods, can I post links to other sites? Sorry, if this is not allowed. Feel free to delete)

I didn't get my $$ back and I used paypal

Thanks for the link. As for me, I bought a LV CB purse some years back from Ebay for about £150. The seller had loads of pictures and the purse looked authentic. However, when I got the purse, it wasn't the same one as the one in the pictures  and was very obviously fake. I was fuming:censor:. I e-mailed the seller numerous times but he never replied. When I checked Ebay, the seller was no longer registered. It was the first time I had ever bought anything from Ebay and I didn't know I could pursue it further. I felt like such a twit:push: . Well, you live and learn I suppose- sigh! I don't buy anything that costs over £20 from Ebay anymore. Some sellers just cannot be trusted. The cheek of them-- advertising their fakes as 100% Authentic.

Burned by ebay, oh yes, went on a handbag buying foray on ebay, new to system, ended up buying almost all fakes,(5), for a large monetary loss, have been reimbursed for all but one which I am trying to get reimbursement as we speak, paypal was involved in one refund, the rest sellers refunded voluntarily when faced with facts, just one more to go, hopefully I will get my money back on this one - It is goodbye to Ebay for me after this...............no telling what you are buying, and you cannot go by descriptions, feedbacks, or pictures - only can go by what you learn from this and from the ebay shoes, purses, etc., forum which was a great help to me in establishing that I had been taken - thanks to all here and on that forum.
