Mods, I have no clue where this thread should go so I’ll leave it up to you. It started with Balenciaga so I started here.
I bought a new Metallic Edge City Bal from Amuze. I posted a photo here and somebody told me it was fake. I was shocked, so posted photos in the Authenticate section. PeaceBabe said it was a replica. I didn’t stop there, I paid a professional authenticator to determine whether my bag was fake.
It was. The font was wrong, hardware, serial number, and other things. I wrote about my experience on Trustpilot. I was not angry or mean, I just said that I’d gotten the bag authenticated and that it was fake. In fact, I’d complimented the company on a previous good experience and said that it might be an error. I went out of my way to be fair, and honest.
Fortunately, Amuze refunded me (although they wanted to take a few weeks, which was a big no-they managed to charge me instantly). But I got my money back. And I found a similar bag on
Nordstrom. So despite the fact that I have somewhat of an Internet audience, I let it be. This was months ago.
Today, I got an email from TrustPilot, asking me to take the review down or change it, as Amuze had complained. The words “fake bag” were a problem, and they even threatened me by subtly Implying it was illegal. (In the review I said it was what my authenticator said, I didn’t make it up. Nothing illegal about it).
So I could put the emails in this here, but it’s getting long. Suffice it to say, I said no. Had they asked me to write I’d resolved it, I would have, but that’s not what they asked for. But clearly not only is Amuze untrustworthy, TrustPilot has no interest in an honest review. So if you are using them to decide whether you get quality service and product-don’t.
I’ve decided that the only place to get new luxury is to pay full price and buy in a boutique. It’s sad but unless you buy from somebody you know, there is a good chance you are getting ripped off. And sadly, you cannot even trust the places that are there to help you decide.
These websites like Amuze should have to disclose their supply chain. They get away with too much, and now review sites are on their side.
