Prefer the platinum with the white diamonds. Now if it was pink diamonds...that's a different story! It would be interesting to see if they ever make this with pink gold/pink diamond combination or yellow gold/yellow diamond combo!

Yellow diamonds would be so cheerful in the butterfly motif.

Ahhh! I finally found this thread again. The platinum butterfly necklace is for sale at yoogiscloset for $2850. if you or anyone else on here is still interested.....

Ladies, I'm still considering this necklace.

I'm torn between the two metals, though. Both have their respective advantages.

I wonder if platinum on a necklace develops some patina/turns greyish? Or is this only the case with jewelry that gets banged up, such as rings and bracelets?

Not at all! The top pendant is platinum, middle is silver, bottom is 18k white gold.

The rings are platinum on top and 18k white gold on bottom. When they're not right next to each other I can't see the difference in color.

Wow, it looks great!

In the store, platinum necklaces looked a bit dark and greyish... is it different in "normal" lighting? Do they look more like silver?

Hmmmm, I would say that the platinum chain looks a teeny tiny tad darker, but the pendant, where it's polished, is totally bright and sparkly. But where I see a difference other people can't always see it. My poor house painters lol! I love the look of platinum, given the choice between white gold, silver and platinum I'll pick platinum. Whichever pieces you are considering will be gorgeous in platinum!

For reference, I took those pictures of the pendants and the rings right in front of a window, so bright natural light. HTH!

I like platinum as well, but I generelly prefer YG and RG. Not sure which colour to choose for this necklace... everything is so gorgeous.
