Imo, yes. Otherwise it comes off as inauthentic, insincere, gawking. Consider the cost of the private jet from LA to ElPaso, then a rental car [limo?] to Uvalde, all with her Nflix camera crew. Money could have been better spent in helping the families. Many A listers figured out long ago that their presence is simply a distraction from the important issues. It also looks like the person is feeding his/her own ego. In this case, it looks like NFlix is pushing a false narrative. Kinda sick when you think about it. My opinion, ymmv.

ETA: Everyone here is aware she has not visited her father who suffered a major stroke 2 days ago. He lives maybe 2 hours away from her Cali house. Imo the juxtaposition of this Uvalde visit with her ailing father in the hospital says it all.

How do you know that’s all she did? And even if the flowers and food IS all she did, so what? A lot of celebrities/people don’t do anything at all.
Did you feel it insincere when Kate showed up to the vigil of Sarah Everard?

Not to hijack the thread, but I am in the minority who does find it annoying when royals get involved in ‘cause celebres’ and charity - not so much because of the action itself but because the way it’s covered in the media does always seem to be self-aggrandising PR to me. (The press always seem to find out - somehow….) For this reason, I would warn Americans against embracing these ‘errands of mercy’ as it seems to me like H&M are trying to make themselves into the royals of your republic and I (a Brit) do not enjoy having royals as my superiors by accident of birth.
Well one thing that no one has mentioned that she did is donate blood - at the blood donation center - when she showed up with a couple of bags of food.
Maybe I am more sensitive about the topic of blood donations because I am a universal donor and I have donated blood just because and also when there has been a terrible event and the call goes out for blood, especially from universal donors because the blood banks/hospitals can always use my type, which is very rare.
So the way I see it, the only blood banks can get blood is by donation - there is no synthetic substitute. A donation of blood is worth more to them than a couple of bags of food.
As usual, MM has made a story about her. I think it would have been appropriate for her to write a check to Everytown or another group that advocates gun control, and another check to the blood donation center. Who knows what the blood bank’s priorities are now. The food was probably gone in a couple of hours. If one writes them a check, they can use the money when and how they need it.
I also think that she should also do any
donations privately, making sure that she is not photographed. She could have sent checks or used a credit card - it takes virtually no time and no one else has to even know about it. So don’t assume that “no one else” does it - most of us don’t feel the need to publicize it.

Yeah. I do agree that the posters on both sides shouldn’t be lashing out at each other whether it’s calling each other pathetic or toxic or stupid or even racist just because we have different views of a celebrity couple’s intentions .
I will admit was intrigued to see how the fans were feeling after what I considered to be a tasteless PR gaffe but now I think it’s best to just leave the camps to it.

Anyway, I don't see the problem. She laid down some flowers at the site of a national tragedy. So many other Americans have also paid their respects. SMH. What is wrong with what she did? She’s allowed to pay her respects. Press were already there, since it's an open memorial, they recognized her and took a few snaps. No one is making this a big story except the British press and her haters. Talking about she brought her own photographer?! Cameras haven't stopped rolling since the shooting happened, reporters from all over the country are there! They haven't left.
How dare she visit the memorial and bring food to the people donating blood.
The charity she and Harry partner with - World Central Kitchen- is also there. They also donated during the storm in February 2021 and Harry was randomly spotted in Dallas at a rodeo. It's possible Meghan has friends in Texas.
The hate people have for Meghan, geez! There is nothing wrong with her doing this, she's a mother of two young children, one who's already in school in the US. This is a subject that directly affects every parent with school aged children in America. The fact people would use this as a chance to bash her says more about them and their lack of heart and compassion and it really makes me sad. Meghan will always trigger people. If they release a statement, one side will declare that isnt enough. If they dont release one, they get accused of not caring. If she shows up, some accuse her of using this for publicity. If she does nothing at all, shes a vacuous ex royal who cares only about herself according to some. No matter what she does, she gets ripped apart.
Btw her father has TMZ and Dan Wootton on speed dial. But no, it's always Meghan who is the bad person. We don't know what their interaction has been, because Meghan has chosen to keep silence about the father that started a whole Youtube channel to bash her. His partner in that Youtube channel is tabloid photographer who is actively, currently stalking her and her mother. Meghan has stated she already lost her father. Last time he had a "heart attack" before Meghan's wedding he told TMZ and gave them a statement before he informed Meghan.
The people in Texas are greatful for anyone that went their to do anything for them, for anyone who sent money prayers, and anything else. And many of them have expressed that.

I am sure that as a Mother, she was grieving as we are with this tragedy. Maybe others feel different but from what all the volunteers said, she was very kind and thoughtful. I am gonna go with that because it is first hand and not gossip.
