Ok, I don't feel they need to fit your lifestyle. I am a stay at home mom and use my Chanel jumbo daily. I feel the money is worth it, if it brings me joy. To me it's a piece of history and art, I get to enjoy. Most people near me have no idea that it is anymore money then say, Kate spade. They really only think of Louis Vuitton as expensive and many around my area own lv, coach, mK or Kate spade. So while others may say the bags don't fit my lifestyle, I don't feel a bag has to be defined by a certain lifestyle and absolutely would bring my jumbo to target or Applebee's or wherever.

Love4H this is OT but your avatar looks EXACTLY like my first dog, he was such a good boy; he was a Doberman X Chow. Super sweet temperament

I have 3 dogs, and the youngest one might grow up into something similar. He's still a teenager and it's hard to see his final looks :D

And he loves licking my bags :D

Some fit my lifestyle and some don't. I know the contemporary ones do but for the high end ones, I sometimes feel like I'm being scrutinized :/ People will wonder how I got it or why i'm carrying such a high priced bag at my age. Im 21 (going to be 22 soon) so I think it is an appropriate. Its kind of like how girls my age carry Chanel and all you can think is wow.. how did she afford that, she must have a sugar daddy or its fake. My bf scolds me for liking high end bags because he thinks i'm being materialistic and its not suitable for my age. Honestly I have no preference, i'll carry a bag as long as I like it and its something of good quality.

But anyways, I have days where I'll carry something to match the situation..if that makes sense lol. Like, I hate going to places like walmart but they sell certain things I can't get elsewhere, so i'll go and carry something less flashy. I don't want people to stare or put myself at risk of being robbed (it happens).

I just hate when people tell you that you need to carry this or that because of your age or lifestyle.. people should be free to carry what they desire that makes their heart happy :smile1:

Most of mine fit my lifestyle, but a few don't. For some reason, I get on kicks occasionally when I really want more rugged style bags when I work in an urban office every day and need bags with a bit more polished style. I have found a balance of polish and organization in Longchamp leather bags and MZ Wallace nylon bags. They are my two favorites by far, and I have tried almost everything but Hermes.

Sometimes you have to buy the bag to discover what does fit and doesn't fit.
I find that it also depends on how much you care about maintaining the bag.

Expensive bags are generally not for everyday casual epecially if you live in a big city and take mostly public transport unless you dont mind it getting really beat up. I notice on the metro that only the big guns all come out on Friday to Sunday nights for dinner or going to a party, but during the day, most people carry bags that are cheaper and not afraid of a beat up.

For example, I find that Bal Citys are actually not that great for big cramped city life. It doesn't sit particularly well on your shoulder, and if you carry it on your arm, it gets easily bumped and scratched, so going shopping with it is also a pain because you cant wear it cross-body. However, when i'm back in Toronto or the Bay area and I get to drive or sit in a car for transport most of the time, i can carry it seven days a week.

I also travel a lot and don't like bringing expensive bags with me - so to be honest, I have very little occasion to wear high end bags. Like someone was saying about having beautiful clutches - it's beautiful but not useful. Bags that are more expensive that I carry the most are my pretty beat-up Bal Mini City I wear cross-body with essentials when I have another laptop bag and my MbMJ Hillier for errands or shopping. My two most expensive bags - Paraty and City - only come out when I am going out for social purposes, which is not that often these days. I have a couple of others for various other occasions. If I don't ever find the occasion to wear a bag, I sell it. I'm a minimalist and hate clutter, even if it's pretty.

I've been dying for the metallic edge Bal envelope clutch with a strap and almost bought one last weekend, but has managed to hold off the urge so far. At first I was convinced that with the long strap I'd wear it cross-body casually - and then i asked myself, "am I really going to wear it casually when I'm mashed up between people in the metro?" Probably not. I still really want that bag though and I really want more high end bags. I just can't find the occasion to wear them so I keep refraining from doing it unless i'm sure it'll get used.

I don't think I will ever stop trying out bags and balancing what I love aesthetically and what fits my lifestyle though (lifestyles constantly change!). I actually find it to be a lot of fun to hunt for that balance!!

I think it is whatever you find to be fun. I don't go out to expensive restaurants and most people in my field of work, although they can afford expensive bags, most of them tend to spend their money more on larger houses, cars and college funds for their kids (I have none) and whatever else. I know a few people who have expensive bags but that is far and few between. I bought my first Chanel just this week and I love it. Although I do have a 'luxury' car, it is also nearly 10 years old but other people like to spend money on cars regularly. My interests are travel and shopping and that is where most of my money goes after savings.

Having said all that, I live in one of the most expensive counties in the US and there are definitely people who live in my area who fit into the lifestyle of designer stuff but I think most people I know, even multimillionaires are pretty laid back.

I used to think that as long as it's something you like, you can wear it despite what everyone else thinks, but I've realized that things aren't as simple once I graduated, started working, and became subject to office politics. My team (mostly) doesn't care what I wear and the dress code isn't super stringent, but I have a difficult branch chief who makes snide little comments whenever someone wears brands that are more expensive than what she have (which makes me sad because she seems determined to stay loyal to MK no matter how much she's paid).

Pffft, the bag still has to be invented that would suit my lifestyle: aristocrat working one week in high level international meetings in direct contact with heads of State or government, a war zone (literally dodging snipers) the next, a novelist and pro painter in my free time who also spend much time with romping hunting dogs. So no, I make do with practical, robust, light, roomy and deliciously smelling pieces as an instant pick me up (I don't know which smells worse, stuffy asbest-ridden meeting rooms full of exhausted, coffee slugging, aftershave-doused officials, or burning towns), at least until a bulletproof, Retriever-resistant, collapsible purse is invented that also warns me when I'm running late, filters my calls, chugs out freshly brewn tea and aspirin on demand, and magicks a clean toilet with a hot shower and a change of clothes on the run. And if it smells like a Chloe bag, all the better!

When you discover such a bag, please share with you fellow handbag addicts.
I could really use a Retriever resistant bag!!!

Good Lord! You live an interesting life! I hope you will write about it one day.

Where I live, which can seem like an alternate universe sometimes, many people carry high ends bags for immediately identifiable status, just as they drive certain cars. They might be shopping in a discount clothing store or a supermarket in old clothes, but they have their Birkins. Around here LV is downscale as everyone else, and their brother's wife, and their housekeeper, has them. It's actually fun to sit at local delis while munching lunch just to see what bags are being carried that day. It is reality gone astray.

I am also loving the Bal metallic edge clutch with the long strap & resisted the urge last weekend! I'm planning to go back to Neiman Marcus with my summer essentials (sunglasses case, etc) to be sure it all fits comfortably before pulling the trigger :hbeat:

Most of my bags are definetly fits my lifestyle and couple of them Don't. But it doesn't mean that I don't have to use it, when I purchased my handbags I always think of the funtionality it is very important for me since I spent all the money I want to use all of them as much as possible:-) And I will say depends where you going and what are the occasions. I do like traveling I do it once a year when I travel abroad I only bring bag that the BRAND is not screaming "robbed me" Lol...but yeah other than that I rotate my bags bigger bags are mainly for work, crossbody is mainly my weekend bag, and clutches are date night, thats how I rotate them..high end and low end are equally love:-)
