If you have a "homeowners", "condo owner" or "renters" policy then yes, you can "schedule" or "itemize" items of high value at very little cost. Just call your agent and ask. =D

As an insurance agent myself, most policies cover items such as this under your "personal property" coverage. You just need to have your receipts in a safe place, and photographs or other documentation are helpful. Handbags are not considered artwork so usually they cannot be "scheduled," but I guess that could vary depending on what company you work for, although most major companies do not insure handbags specifically.

Problem is if you don't schedule them , your deductible applies and in most cases this wipes out the cost and not worth turning in a claim. With scheduling there is no deductible and is covered "all risk" (insurance verbiage for anything). This item would most likely just be considered an "other" category, not art of course. I do it all the time. Ask your agent for better clarification though. It's really cheap and worth it.

I am an insurance agent too, and I do this on my personal policy. I have my most valuable bags and jewelry itemized on my homeowners policy. It's pretty easy to do really

What about if I have several pairs of Christian Louboutins? Would it be worth it to insure those? They are like $800/pair. I don't know if you can insure shoes, but I definitely wouldnt be able to replace all of them if they were stolen or something.

Oh yeah! I didn't even see that!

"Howdy" - ha ha ha

There's gotta be more Houstonians around, not everyone lists their locations though............

You can itemize anything you want. You're paying for it. The thing is, your personal property is already insured but doing it this way, you have no deductible and you have coverage for just about anything. On the shoes, it would be worth it to me (I have my Chanel sunglasses insured!) I would total up the cost and add them. The cost is little.

And yes, our bags ARE art work aren't they! What was I thinking? lol

I am a grad student and currently renting an apartment.

I started to look into renter's insurance a few times but got really confused. Would that cover any items that are stolen? Also, I am a fickle collector and downsize my collection often, would it be worth it to insure a bag when I'm likely to sell it about 6 months down the road?

Thank you for all the help!
