Hammered Gold Alhambra - Still a long wait?

I was able to be put on the “wishlist” but not a preorder. What’s the difference?
From what I understand, a wishlist just means that the SA knows you want this piece and puts you on their personal list for when it comes in, but if other people have also requested it, you have to wait until your name is called. I don’t think it’s a formal thing (unless it’s a limited edition or HP). Plus the order-ability of pieces change monthly my SA said. So for example, I wanted a BA 5 motif bracelet, but it was not order able in September 2024 so I was put on a waitlist and my SA said no one was on the list ahead of me. They only got two but I didn’t like the colors so I waited. Then the order list opened up and I could pay for it in full to order one in (one month wait).
My takeaway is that if you REALLY want a piece, re-check on its ability to be ordered monthly. It seems like VCA focuses on issuing a lot of one stone type at a time (for Alhambra). Right now BA seems easier to get than ever. So you kind of have to jump when the iron is hot. All that said, some pieces are what my SA calls “unicorns”, like the MOP 2 motif earrings or and Magic earrings at all really…almost like don’t ask. I do believe that the better your relationship with your SA, the more likely they will remember you want something. This is not necessarily tied to spend amount but how kind you are, how well you get along, etc. because if someone is a b!tch, then the SA might “forget” their name is on a popular wishlist when a piece comes in.

Gotcha thanks for the explanation. I was able to preorder the BA bracelet last year and received it in 2 months! I know stock constantly changes so I’m hoping I can get the hammered soon for my birthday 🙏🏽

Help! I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I have been on the waitlist for the 16 motif hammered RG necklace since last year. In Nov I was told I'm 6th on the list. Last week I saw an excellent condition, 2022 necklace with certificate (no box) pop up on fashionphile for the same price as retail, so I purchased it. It came yesterday and I LOVE it and I'm so glad I got the chance to try it on. I reached out to my SA out of interest as I would much prefer to buy from the boutique and I am now 4th on the list. My question is, do I return the FP necklace and wait it out, knowing I really would prefer to buy from the boutique, or just keep the FP one and be done with it. Any advice would be appreciated!!!

From 6th place to 4th place in around 6 months. It's very long.

But ok, to your question: it depends what is more important for you:

- to own the necklace now or
- to buy it from the boutique?

I personally waited almost 2 years for the sweet RG hammered bracelet. But I wasn't on the wait-list. I just stalked the website sometimes. One day I had luck.

I think to buy from the boutique. I can wait if I know it’s for sure coming (which unless they stop producing it, seems like it will eventually) - altho I’m sure I will end up paying a price increase in that time as well. I know Fashionphile stand behind their products, but I guess it’s that niggle in my head that there’s a chance it’s not authentic and I might never know that I’m struggling to silence. However much I want it now!

I understand the agony of waiting. IMHO, I would still purchase from the boutique because:
-For peace of mind.
-FP is not cheaper.
-Purchase history with boutique can help you request yearly holiday pendants if you ever want one.
-the whole boutique experience and the chance to try on your “next” purchase.
Many PF members reported long waited items are showing up. Yours will soon too.

each boutique may have their own rules. My boutique allow price lock-in if item is orderable and 100% paid. Check with your boutique if you can lock-in current price by paid in full?

Thank you, I think this is what I’m going to do. A big purchase like this for me needs to feel 100% right. It will be worth the wait and at least I know I definitely want it now!

I would also wait. If it was buying from another VCA boutique abroad I have to admit that it is exactly what I did 😙 last December for 2 wishlist pieces I could grab in Asia.
But if I buy second hand it is usually pieces I couldn’t get now (like magic if in very good condition, TE bracelet which is not orderable, old VA HP like the rhodonite …)

Try reaching out to Atlanta NM VCA. I was the only one on the list and I got one recently. They told me anecdotally that there is one that they receive every 6months, of course past performance is not indicative of future but still..
