BTW I last saw half moon wocs in hong kong canton road in sept 2015. They only had orange. Ive got the classic cc woc black caviar ghw and always thought I would get a half moon but when there was finally stock, it didn't feel or look as good as the caviar and I couldn't buy it. I was quite disappointed but now Ive stopped lusting for the elusive half moon. Kind of a good thing.
Just to add, I've also got many other Chanel bags in caviar, lambskin, calfskin, distressed.... The half moon leather quality was so bad I couldn't believe its a Chanel bag.
it's one of my favorite Chanel styles. i prefer it to the regular WOC b/c it fits more and is super light weight. what do you think of it? just curious.
I think the same! I have 6 WOCs, and not only is my black Half Moon WOC in black caviar my most used WOC, it's my most used Chanel period!
It's light weight, compact, but because of its shape/structure and the soft caviar leather, this WOC "gives" a lot and fits a ton!! What I love about it, is that because of its half moon shape, you can carry so much in there without it looking out of shape, overstuffed, or "misformed" (like the classic rectangular WOC if you try too stuff to much in there). I also really like the strong magnetic button on the Half Moon.
I love my classic rectangular WOCs, but as a everyday bag, I always grab my Half Moon.
Too bad it has been discontinued.
I have 6 WOC's too (ironic, we are twins lol!) I love how the half moon looks!
Con: I did have a navy half moon WOC but consigned it as the bottom has these two points that stick out. So I can see them getting scraped and rubbing against things more easily than a "regular" WOC that is square shaped.
Pro: is that it is a wider shape and less structured than square WOC so can accommodate slightly more.

I ❤ my black caviar half moon woc! I used this daily for 2 years and still looks brand new. It holds more than the traditional woc. I'm a mom of 4 so it works perfect for my lifestyle. I can wear crossbody when needed. Or throw it into a larger bag like my diaper bag or work bag. Right now I'm using my small boy bag daily but pull this one out when I need a more durable versatile purse.
I have six half moon WOC's. I wouldn't trade any of them for the world.
I like them better than the classic WOCs because:
1) they carry more in the "main" compartment
2) the card pockets aren't as tight as the classic WOC's
3) the "gusseted" side isn't actually gusseted but its own reinforced exterior panel, making it more durable
4) the iPhone 6S+ fits in the FRONT pocket of the muliple pockets of the WOC. In the classic model, you have to put the phone in the MAIN compartment because the front compartment will not fit the phone anymore
5) the bag is much more durable because the weight of the bag is carried by the main compartment, not the top flap. If you look at how the chain connects to the bag, the chain connects to the base, not the top flap.
6) Because of #5, you can open the WOC much more easily, and the bag won't start to move once you open it because the top flap is not connected to the chain like in the classic WOC. In the classic woc, depending on how heavy the WOC is, once you open it, the bag will move backward
7) you can open and close with one hand, because of the weight dynamics above but also because the button snap is a larger magnetic button snap that self-guides to close.
The only "con" is that oftentimes the magnetic snap closure is too strong, which can risk weakening the soft caviar leather around it. My current fix: cut a piece of scotch tape into a circle and put it on one side of the clasp and then press down hard to close. Weakens the magnet just enough.
I like them better than the classic WOCs because:

This was very convincing lmao!!!! I am rethinking selling my half moon now.....my magnet was super strong as well! Like crazy strong. Wish I had known about this trick. I may be on the lookout for one, my DH is gonna kill me cuz when I say, "okay, this is the last bag for a long time" another bag comes along or I hear why another bag is perfect lol!! Lol thank you! I am glad my long half moon-praising ramblings were of some purpose to someone. Dare I say it is my favorite Chanel piece EVER! Or one of. There are few Chanel pieces better thought out or better made IMO. Don't sell yours! They discontinued them and for who knows how long! (I am still hoarding colors lol, join me CATEYES!)
Roku, thanks for the very detailed review. Unfortunately, I passed up on buying a halfmoon woc in 2013 (purple shiny material) and I have since dreamt of owning one (beige with gold hw). But they've been discontinued for a while now. I guess my only chance is the secondary market and hope that they bring it back.
