guy wearing women's sized watch

To my eyes, all the watches in the pics are too small for your wrist and think 36-40 will look good on you. But off course, the most important thing is to wear whatever you're comfortable and happy with, regardless others' opinion. Also, judging from the pics, all steel watches look better than steel-gold combo.

I think that larger watches look good - but they can feel heavy.....
If you prefer something smaller, than the one with the blue face is the best of the bunch.

But I'd still recommend that you try a larger watch. My hubby is about your height and slim built and he wears a large watch and it looks good on him.

wow!! so many responses thank you guys!

it seems like there are a lot of different opinions. I definitely see what you guys are saying about the 36mm-ish sized watches but the truth is that I just don't like wearing them that much. It might be weird but I just prefer the smaller sizes.

I'll keep looking for some more neutral ones. But it seems the general consensus here so far is the fossil blue and tag heuer are the most passable followed by the citizen. So for now I will wear those. I have to say the fossil and tag are my favorites of the bunch! So that's good to know =)

Is it possible for you to take pics of medium or even large size so that we can compare and give opinions on it. So far I think women size is a tiny bit odd on you. The first ine with blue face is the most acceptable but maybe medium size will look better on you?

Sorry! I or my girlfriend don't have any! Well she has one but it's more feminine looking. I could take a picture of that if you'd like just for size purposes

My hubby has a very small wrist also. He usually wears the midsize models of watches. I think the rectangular ones look great on you! IMO a rectangular watch on a man should look no larger than those do on your wrist! The sports watches also look ok to me, although I'd imagine they would look best if a little bigger, but they still look very wearable to me. 30 mm used to be a unisex size for round watches, but now it is like 36, which to me is totaly insane. Just wear what you feel fits your wrist best, and what you like best on your wrist. Definitely love the rectangular ones though!

I wanted to add also that none of the styles look feminine at all IMO. So don't worry about that! The designs would look equally well on a mans wrist as a woman's.

thanks!! That's kind of how I feel about it too! :D

Sorry to revive an old (yet interesting) thread… I came across this thread while doing a Google search and wanted to share a bit about myself, and my views on this.

As a Man, I just recently purchased a 26mm Yellow Gold Rolex Datejust with President Bracelet. It is marketed as a Ladies watch but I think it looks great and ultimately that is what matters.

I collect as well as wear all kinds of watches from brand new in box to vintage wristwatches to antique pocket and pendant/lapel watches, for both Men & Women…. I tend to ignore the stated size of the watch, whether it is marketed towards Men or Women and just wear what I like – regardless of the intended market. I have been recently wearing a pendant watch that is attached to a brooch that I pin in the lapel of my suit jacket. I think it looks very elegant and I have received a number of compliments!

Having read many online forums (and this thread, among others), I am aware that many have very strong stylistic and size preferences when it comes to watches so I am sure that my choices may raise some eyebrows but I am confident enough to wear what I like and do not need approval or appreciation from others.

I am NOT fond of big watches and in my opinion, people started wearing them to stand out when watch sizes were much smaller but now it seems like that big is the norm… Perhaps sizes will revert to smaller sizes after people get bored of big watches but that is just my opinion. I do like being different and one may say some of the watches in my collection are a bit on the feminine side but I like and enjoy wearing them and that is all that matters to me.

31mm and 36mm sized watches would be okay, (for me)… but I feel anything over 40mm is just too big.

If anyone is interested in seeing pictures of my smaller sized watches, I will gladly post.

Bottom-line - Wear and enjoy what you like... everyone will always have their own opinions but ultimately you have to please yourself - not others.

I really think this last sentence says it all. Sort of like the old song "Garden Party" by Rick Nelson which states....."you can't please everyone, just gotta please yourself."

Recherche, I'd love to see your collection. I never see pocket and pendant/lapel watches. Are they all antiques?

Pendant watch

First two images are a pendant watch with matching brooch pinned to the buttonhole of my lapel.

Tiffany and Co Pocket watch

The last two images are of a pocket watch made for Tiffany and Co - Circa 1890... Due to my interest in antique watches and clocks, I purchased it from an auction several years ago. Admittedly, it gets very little use but it is fascinating that more than 120 years later, it not only works well but keeps good time.

That's a gorgeous watch. I have an antique gold pendant watch that I'll add a picture of here tomorrow.
It has a lovely jeweled case and was my great grandmother's watch.

Your timepieces are beautiful. Do you normally just keep the Tiffany watch in your pocket or do you have a chain? And if I may ask, do you know where can I find a dress shirt similar to yours? The collar is unique, but unfortunately I don't know what it's called. ^.^;; Thank you so much for sharing!

I can't wait to see!

Beautiful jewellery! I ask DH who loves jewellery and dressing up.

He said yes the watch would look particularly good on the lapel of a thick tweed jacket or a fine dress suit.

I say wear your beautiful pieces, you have them and it would be a pity if they stayed stored away in the dark.

Would live more pix please?

Thank you for your reply.

I normally just put the watch in my vest pocket (if wearing a vest) or in the watch pocket of my suit pants, (a small pocket concealed in the waistband).

The Bespoke Suit and Shirt are actually custom-made by my team (I work in clothing). The type of collar is referred to as a Mandarin collar or band collar.
