If you'd like some advice, go for colour in the velvet!
According to your signature list you do own a fair few black bags already. I understand that your preference is for neutral bags but the nature of velvet means that there's a lot of depth and variability in the shades of colour within the fabric - like a jewel - and it really lends itself to rich, deep colour. The Rubin (berry pink) is especially jewel like.
I hope you get a chance to see the velvet bags in real life because photos don't do them justice.
I own the three original colours in the velvet Marmont - black medium and Rubin and Petrol in the small size. Love them all but the Petrol blue is my favourite colour.
I also absolutely love the big boho lux statement made by the medium size velvet Marmont :coolio:
I'd love to get a small in Petro Velvet! In the US it's not available anywhere I've checked and it's not available in Gucci's site either. It's the Most gorgeous shade and the small is the perfect size.

I was looking for the purple one about a month ago and ended up finding teal at Neimans BUT they told me at the Gucci store you could order them and they would arrive in about 3ish months. They also mentioned there were many people on the waitlist which gave me the idea it might take longer than three months but the message I got was that they were definitely making more. This was Gucci in King of Prussia PA if you want to call them.
Would you mind sharing Which Neimans? I'm in the US, and my SA is at Saks. I've called Gucci as well and have been told those currently " out there" are all that are left. I'd love to Peteol blue in Small. Thanks.

How are they holding up wear and tear wise? I think that is what's holding me back from getting it. Do you think it's a classic? Not just the "it" bag for now?

Mine are looking good without signs of wear but I take good care of them - both when carrying and storing. The chain leaves little marks in the velvet nap if pressed against it for a long time - nothing to worry about though as it's not permanent. Most likely wear is at the front clasp. The velvet does collect a bit of lint.
If you carry the bag sometimes ( and keep it away from food, wine and soaking rain) it should look good for a long time. If you carry it as an every day bag (the 'it' bag to be seen with ATM) it will look old fast
I'm a velvet fan and a bit of a collector (clothes, shoes, bags) so I'm not scared of velvet and I don't ask too much of it because it's not like leather or suede.
I wouldn't call it a classic as such, but it's a classic shape flap with a good chain strap and it's beautiful. Mine have been bought for the long term.

There's something special about the Petrol, even the leather part of the strap is a beautiful colour.
Hope you can find one - keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you! So much. I think I'm going to order it. [emoji4][emoji106]

Hi, it was Neimans King of Prussia PA. It was their last bag and they were surprised to still have one on the shelf. Odd about the actual Gucci store, I guess they are no longer taking orders. They were so popular I would hope they would bring them back. Good luck.

Buuut when i took it home and unwrapped it I noticed a few tiny flaws.. (the bottom has a small bump/ dent) a what do you guys think? Should i take it back? Do you guys think they will exchange it or am I being silly? Its already intimading going into the boutique without feeling "judge" by the Staff I don't want the SA giving me hard time that will turn me off from going back to tboutiques

Thanks for this. I was concerned about the tubbing down of the velvet. Do you think that would be an issue over time?

Over how much time? With what frequency of wear? And would you more likely to wear the velvet bag with (and rubbing against) a suede coat with buckles and seamed pockets or against a smooth silk dress? How often you wear it and what you wear it with will determine how quickly the velvet ages and shows signs of thinning. My bags are all pretty much as new after owning them for more than six months with occasional wear.
If you want to wear the velvet Marmont cross body rubbing against denim almost everyday, the back of the bag may show wear fairly quickly. The velvet flap closure will also show wear from handling (with damp or oily hands) if the bag is used all the time.

hi Fellow purse lovers, I've been looking for the Gucci Marmont Velvet bag in the color teal. I know i'm so late in the game. I wasn't interested at first when i saw it. But now i'm falling in love. The color is sooo gorgeous!! Have you girls seen it anywhere in the preloved market even?

Nordstrom on line has it available for preorder. Check out their website.

I bought the teal on eBay a few months ago. It was new in box and I haven't worn this one yet as I may sell it because after I bought it my SA called me and said she had a black one held back by their buyer so she sold it to me. Don't know if I want to of the same bag.
