Hi all
Recently bougt grand Palais Emperiente and I haven’t seen many opinions /comments about it . For those who have it , what do you think ? How well does it hold up?

Hi, I only saw this and had to reply. I got the Grand Palais in black empreinte in September. I loved it, and was very conscious of the corners from the start. I was so careful of them, yet after very normal use I noticed wear on all four corners! It started off very unnoticeable. I also noticed a flaw of the design, the handles when in use pushed against the leather, leaving harsh indents. This made me cautious so I put the handles inside to store it and carried it by the handles most of the time. So I went in to LV and asked them to look at the corners. The SA was very surprised, as the rest of the bag was immaculate. So they sent it off for assessment and I got word back it was being sent to the spa free of charge. I was delighted. That’s why I chose leather, as it can be touched up well by competent leather specialists. I got the email to collect it a few weeks later, and when the SA came out with a fairly battered paper bag I was a bit surprised. The Grand Palais was pulled out, no box, and taken out of the dust bag. Automatically I could see that it had been compressed, and both handles had been left out and down pressing on the bag. I examined the corners and noticed they hadn’t been touched up effectively at all. In fact it looked like two corners hadn’t been touched. I pointed this out and they agreed wholeheartedly. Then I examined it more closely and saw they the handles had left really awful indents on the top of the bag. I mean BAD. The edging/sealed edge was completely permanently warped. It warped the clean lines of the top part of the bag, that has such a beautiful curve. I pointed this out, again they agreed and said the handles should have been stored inside at all times. The right side of the bag was also sagging, I presume from being packaged very poorly. At this point they were suggesting sending it back to the spa. Turning the bag over I was horrified to see a huge white mark on the base, about two inches in length and an inch in diameter. Now the manager was beside us and was not impressed, as it was just supposedly back from the Spa. There was no marks whatsoever when I dropped it in originally, actually the SA commented on how immaculate it was in comparison to the corners. Having no feet it was never left on the floor. So the manager immediately said that was not good enough and they would order a new one. Very efficient, good customer service! The mark was really bad, and looked like it had been left on paint. The new bag arrived and I went in to collect it. I was looking at it carefully enough and saw that it was a little misshapen on one side, and one of the handles was already leaving heavy indents in the leather that it rested on on the top of the bag. So I pointed this out and said I wasn’t very happy with it. I had seen how this could develop. They had no others in store, so the SA said if I had another bag in mind I could change it. After all the issues I decided to make the change. The corners were the least of my worries, as you can expect a little wear and tear. I felt a little pressured, as I hadn’t expected to leave without the Palais and it was a take it now or leave it offer. I ended up leaving with the Onthego Mm in empreinte. I like the size and structure, thought the lack of crossbody and top closure did concern me. However I’m happy I left the Palais. There was just too many issues for me. It is a stunning bag that really looks so timeless, but my experience with it was just too worrisome. I hope this helps and wasn’t too long winded!

Apologies for the long post, but I wanted to get it all down so it could be useful for anyone else contemplating the Palais. In all honesty, it may have been the one bag, but cumulatively it was too much for me. I still think it’s one of the most classy bags I have ever seen!
I also wanted to thank you so much. its the first LV bag I have bought and was so excited in store, but didn't see too many comments. Now worried a bit, but will try to be super careful. Really appreciate your thorough reply. thanks again!

Wow, that is unfortunate. It does look like a very beautiful bag. I have heard this is an ongoing problem with the folded corners though. The empreinte Onthego comes in a PM size. It might be too awkward as a crossbody bag. The MM size in empreinte looks very nice too.

I was hesitant as I don’t want to put anyone off. I still think it’s on of the most beautiful bags I have ever had! For me the corners were fine, I’m ok with getting a professional to touch them up. I’d actually use a local business here though as I think they’re better than the Spa based on the repair they did. For me the big issue was the handles. I wish the bag had the loop like the Montaigne had to hold them together. I am annoyed at myself for not taking a picture of the indents to show what I mean!

It was so beautiful, but the indents throwing off the classic lines was a deal breaker. I won’t be using the Onthego crossbody, but will use one of my other straps to give it a longer drop when carried on the shoulder. I don’t have a tote in my collection and have 3 small bags I rotate so I thought it could work! I love the Boite Chapeau Souple in Empreinte so that may be a future buy if it’s still available!

Hi,
So sad to hear about the Palais…
I did the same in September last year. I bought the Grand Palais in black empriente and was soooo satisfied with my new bag. But when I came home I saw that one corner was sagging. So the bag had a three corners normal and one corner sagging a lot. I called LV and they out another Palais for me to change if I wanted. So I went to LV. But that one in store looked the same. SA in store said too me that that kind of model will sagging more or less so you have to like that other wise go for another model. I went out with Onthego mm black.❤️

I remember you having that issue! My original had no sagging at all, but they destroyed it at the “spa” and sending it back all compressed. Such a pity! Aesthetically I loved the Palais, but I have also gone with the Onthego Mm in empreinte and I LOVE IT! So surprised I do as it’s not my usual style.

Yes I read your text right now and remember that we spoken about it. So good to hear that you love the onthego! Are you using a longer strap to the Onthego?
It’s a pity about the Palais because i did love her.

I thought I would but I actually haven’t ended up using it! I keep a strap in the bag just in case, so I can carry it over the shoulder at a longer length. Really impressed with the Onthego, the one thing I would love is if the longer shoulder straps were removable, that would be amazing!

Exactly! I agree. They take som place and also I’m struggling with them sometimes
