Goyard - Quality and Durability Discussion

I used to carry an ipad and sometimes even macbook in my st louis tote when I was in college. And yes the straps cracked after some time. Definitely won't recommend anyone doing the same haha.

Nowadays I don't carry as heavy stuffs around, but still prefer big bags. My current favorite is the hobo bag and it's been holding up for over 1 year. Still looks perfect.

Knowing the quality issues of other brands currently, I should have known better. Purchased this new from Chicago boutique about 8 months ago, and haven't had a chance to look at it until recently. Noticed glazing chipping off and loose threads. This is insane quality for what we pay for Goyard.

Wow. Just 8 months and the glazing has chipped. I’m so sorry!

I purchased my Mini Saigon just a few months ago and have only used it a handful of times, always with great care. To my surprise, I recently noticed that the leather, particularly around the handles, is already showing signs of creasing. It almost appears as if it could start cracking, which I found quite disappointing considering how little the bag has been used.

When I visited the store, I was informed by the store manager that Goyard offers a one-month warranty, and that having the bag repaired would be at my own expense and could take around six months. I must admit, this has been a rather discouraging experience, and it makes me hesitant about future purchases from Goyard.

I have my Anjou since 2021 and so far no issues at all - even though I overstuff it once in a while and sometimes even use it as a diaper bag when out and about with my baby. As it is lightweight and easily foldable, it's just the most practicable bag I own. It always comes with me when I travel and it also occasionally had to hold my laptop or iPad when going to work meetings.

I've been looking around on PF about any discussions with the Goyard strap and wax issues. My St. Louis GM handles stick to my shirt in warm weather and I had some color transfer from the wax to a shirt while on a trip to TX. I've not noticed any big issues with the strap just some light indentationing. Any suggestions on what I can do to solve it?

Am extremely unhappy with my Goyard purchase and honestly feel the brand produces sub par quality. I purchased a St. Louis tote at their Rue Saint-Honore' location 3 years ago. Within 2 years the tote developed holes in all 4 corners. My communication with Goyard customer service was satisfactory until I asked who would be responsible for the cost of the repairs. Then the communication just stopped. Sent numerous follow ups with no response. My instincts tell me they did not want to put in writing that the customer is actually responsible for the repair costs. I own many designer bags and no other brand has ever had deteriorated the way this bag did. Obviously a manufacturing issue, the cost of which is being passed along to the consumer. No thanks.

I would never invest in another Goyard product and tell everyone I know to think twice. They are doing their brand a lot of damage by expecting customers to absorb the cost of their poor manufacturing. I would bet my life that the Goyard they are selling on Canal Street would hold up better than my $2000 tote.
