Second Rhyder arrived...still scratched. :(

:( hopefully you will exchange it and you will get one in great condition. Once it happened to me with a Carrie that I needed to have it exchange and finally the 3rd one came OK. I'm not that picky but they all have very noticeable damaged ( either glue-like texture material peeling off or marks from handles). I have to admit that every time I have ordered from a dept. store they come all wrapped very neatly and w/ plastic still covering hardware. I wish Coach takes better care and pride in packaging the bags and quality control as this can be a big let down for customers who then opt to shop somewhere else.

I don't know how true this is but my SA said that bags with black antique nickel hardware it is worn and scratched on purpose to be more rugged looking. Rhyders with silver, gold, nickel should come scratch free and be shinier looking.

I think it came from another store, definitely not Jax. It was Florida, but it was Miami/Dade area. I didn't bring the receipt with me today.

I'm going to go back to the boutique tonight and show it to them. For the price of that bag, I want it to be perfect, you know? If it's going to be messed up, at least I want to be the one to do it. Only problem is, they'll have to order it again...and there's a chance that the same thing will happen. I may try to hit up Macy's and see if they have any in stock.
Congrats! If you are not happy you should exchange it to one that you love. I have the same bag and I love mine. I purchased mine from Lord and Taylor and while my turnlock is not very scratched it is/was not perfect. I think the turnlocks are supposed to have some kind of antique finish to them. That being said I love the leather on my bag. I looked at two bags before finding the third one with beautiful leather.

Second Rhyder arrived...still scratched. :(

My SA said Coach is apparently aware of the scratching on the hardware - The new batch of all of the bags - not just the Rhyders came excessively wrapped - even the inside zipper pulls. She said it took forever to unwrap for the new floorset.
There's one thing about an antiqued finish..... but I seriously doubt, based on the scratches I've seen, that it was intended to look that way.

Go for a new one..... and hope for one in the new batch.

I thought that was how the gunmetal hardware on this bag looked. Antiqued.

My Bleecker Penny in Brick has the dark antique nickel and though it has a sort of weathered look, the hardware is still shiny, almost like a slight glaze and is beautiful. I received another BPenny in Brindle for my bday last week and I think that one was just antique nickel...but the hardware was scratched big time, some areas were actually cloudy and did not look good. It also had a stain on the bottom of the bag itself with some other issues so we exchanged. Hope the new one looks better.

ETA: attached a pic I took before I sent it back. You can see the scratches and also some craftsmanship issues around the turnlock. The rest of the hardware was in worse condition.
