Happy that you believe in science. I believe in it too, and I couldn't be more excited with the progress that has been made. As you may know, mRNA vaccines are new and we owe this technology to a woman scientist, Katalin Kariko.:yahoo:

Katalin Kariko had a very difficult career path in science (several grant rejections, demotion, etc); unfortunately, this is still common for many women in science. I'm very happy and proud, and if all goes according to plan, we will likely have a new female Nobel Prize laureate. Cheers to Katalin Kariko! :drinks:

Happy to report I got my mRNA vaccine the other week :)

I rarely carry a purse. I bought a bunch of leggings with pockets and bought a small leather wallet that fits in one pocket and the other pocket contains my phone. It is working out really well. I may never carry a purse on a regular basis anymore. Hands free is fantastic!
I only carry a bag when I’m grocery shopping or when I’m heading to the office with my laptop.

otherwise I love being able just to grab my keys and phone and go. Apple Pay and atms where I can just use my phone to pull $$ out has been fantastic.

Hi eveyone,

So covid-19 pandemic has really changed my relationship with purses and I wanted to see if anyone else felt the same:

Now that social activities mostly consists of going on long walks outside, I don’t really have a need for any of my nice bags anymore.

About a year ago my health changed and I now need to carry around more medical supplies than I used to. So since then, I have barely used any of my cute small bags- which used to be all that I carried!

Now, if I’m walking outside for a long time, my back and shoulders hurt if I need to carry a heavy bag, and I have just been using small back packs. Plus now carrying hand sanitizer, masks etc, I just need a practical lightweight bag.

So I feel really bummed that my lovely little collection of purses (all except 2 that I haven’t had the time to sell) that I genuinely adore is just sitting around collecting dust :/

What’s a girl to do? Does anyone else have a similar experience?
I would say don’t make huge decisions about your lifestyle during this period. We will socialize again!

Keep a few for mementos. And hold on to a few favorites. And find the right fit for your walks.
Stay well.

I've been minimalist before pandemic so I just realized it's a good thing at the times like this. My goal was to have 3 bags that spark joy ;) 1 small everyday bag (YSL toy loulou) 1 little just a little bigger when I need to carry a diaper or two lol (hopefully it's gonna be pochette metis that I snagged last night) plus one bag for special occasions which are not happening too often considering we have small kids and no family nearby but still haven't decided what bag will be the one for this occasion. That way I'm gonna use all of them - no regrets that I paid a lot of money and they are collecting the dust. Although I'm still thinking about having one extra small light colored bag-my toy loulou is black

From this post last year I feel some things have changed and others haven’t. I’m back to mostly working in person and I definitely had missed getting dressed for others to see me (not on zoom ). So now I have started using bags more but not the ones I used before the pandemic. I’ve definitely been reevaluating what I use and what I need to try and sell.

I meant to say that there was a period during 2020 where I also did not want to draw attention to myself. I felt like people were a bit “unhinged” but I feel that has gotten better with things more reopened than when I initially posted.

The same thing happened to me. It has been maybe a year now since I stopped wearing my WOC/any purse. It started out as a fear of drawing too much attention to myself during the pandemic. I switched over to a Jansport backpack. And now that things are starting to look more normal and I feel less weary, tbh I have no interest lol. I prefer my Jansport backpack now or nothing at all. I do think in the future I want to get an Hermes card holder to carry similar to a wallet.

The pandemic (and an unexpected move) have also made me buy much less than I used to. I’m trying to pare down what I have. But it’s funny how life changes what I use…

I have both a backpack and a lamp for about 8 years that I used maybe 1-2 times per year. Then pandemic hit and I used that backpack all the time. Then I moved and I have started crocheting again and I’ve been using that lamp for several hours a day. Turns out I’m glad I didn’t get rid of either of those things :giggle:

I used to buy a purse or two a year and, after not doing that this year plus finding myself only using the same 1 purse for the entire dang year, I do feel like my attitude towards purses have changed. I’ve been a little more drawn to jewelry - things that I can wear and enjoy even without going out.

My attitude about "things" in general has changed rather dramatically since the beginning of the pandemic. I've found myself wanting to rebuy things that had sentimental value to me, and little to no desire to buy anything new. My DGD doesn't care a thing about jewelry or purses, so I'm considering disposing of about 3/4 of what I have. Just imagine how many cows, or goats the sale of just one Birkin could give to struggling families.

Now, shoes are another matter. If I'm gone when she comes over, she knows she has full access to my closet, and I never know what might be missing when I come back!

I have a closet full of Dooney and Coach purses and handbags that I wore for maybe a year before getting another. I kept adding to the collection until the pandemic began. I also was having back and shoulder pain for many years. Around the same time I bought a no-name Italian leather backpack that I adore! It's so much more comfortable and looks better with use! I can fit in a stash of masks and sanitizer. It's also kinder my back, shoulders and wallet. ;) Even so, I don't want to sell of my collection of bags since I will use them again someday but never as often as I do my backpack. I also don't think I will be buying any others. I have more than enough and appreciate what I have.
