We’re obviously on the minority here but the reason I posted about this is cause it’s the only customized Hermès piece that made me feel something. Though, I’m not sure if that feeling’s just a temporary oomph or if it’s something I’ll be in love with a few months from now. Cartoons and other painted bags are really nice but many many people are doing it. I just feel at this point, every customized Hermès piece is already painted. Gold foiling though, very avant garde for customization.
I actually have a really past redemption battered Kelly in rouge H and this tempts me to try doing something similar with it so it doesn’t just look too battered to wear but becomes a quirky statement.
i have some sheets of gold leaf so it’s very tempting!

It’s currently on auction. I’m currently deciding on my ceiling price for it. I am open to suggestions regarding ceiling price! Thanks!
Is there a reserve? I think if you’re drawn to it you should think about what it’s worth to you... I wouldn’t go crazy in case you did go off of it but I would wear it.
I also think you need to try and view it so see how it looks in the flesh

I was never familiar with gold foiled handbags until I came across this. After browsing online, I actually found a gold foiled rouge h and thought it was gorgeous! here’s the link:

The auction house didn’t specify any. However, the estimate was around the 16,000s. But I’ve seen many many items sold with this auction house way below the estimate range.:)

If this were to come home to me, I want it to mostly become a display piece for my closet since I’ve never had the urge to have anything Hermès customized and my style is usually casual. I will wear it once in a blue moon though. I already have my outfit planned lol Louboutin pigalle 120 in black patent, black Bottega Veneta extra wide leg pleated trousers, black lace bandeau under over the shoulder black jacket, accessories from Jean Mahie. It’s so fun to daydream!

Minority opinion: I like the look, but it would just be an oddity for me. You would need to have loads of panache to use it for everyday since it is very striking.

In terms of practicality: would the gold leaf last or would it lose its shine, tarnish, peel? Would you end up with a dalmatian after a few years? How did it affect the leather: is the bag stiff? Will the leather dry out since you can't condition it?

Oooooh I'm loving the idea of this outfit!
And thank you for the Jane finds link..now I have to work out how to bond the leaf to the leather but I'm getting more and more tempted!

16,000s ? dollars or baht
I fear it does not photograph well
it just looks badly done
for that amount you could pick up a similar vintage in box and get it gilded
with 1000s in change
It would be interesting to see the inside

16000s in usd:)

I am also looking into buying a vintage box kelly in dark green probably like vert fonce then eventually maybe having it gold foiled. Once I saw the rouge h gold foiled, I imagined it would be beautiful in green too. Attached is the inside of the bag

Not my jam, but if you love it and are at the point in your collection where a statement, occasional piece makes sense, go for it.

I would check out pricing for a piece in similar condition and how much it’d take to gold leaf it by a reputable craftsperson. I can’t imagine it costs the estimate; it’s just the rarity of the willingness of one to have it done to their bag.

Agree with @WhiteBus and @leechiyong above. I like art rescue bags and have bought several bags that I have had customized in matte metallic, metallic or other. See this thread for some examples (including mine) https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/customized-bags.1019725/page-3.

However, I would not spend anywhere close to 16K usd. I like taking rescue bags and giving them a new second life. . .

Depending on your style, your mood, and your general aesthetic, they can be fun.of course, they are not for everyone though :D
