Tom Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate ended shortly before 9pm on Tuesday after attendees spent more than ten hours at NFL headquarters in New York.

The four-time Super Bowl winner testified under oath in front of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as the two sides tried to wrap up the hearing and avoid resuming the proceeding on Thursday.

The 37-year-old star's attorney, Jeffrey Kessler, said his client was in the building until 'the bitter end' and that they put forth a 'very compelling case' to Goodell, who presided over the appeal.

It has been a tough week for Tom Brady, so there's no doubt he needed a little boost from his family on Thursday.

Tom was forced to defend himself at an appeal hearing surrounding the NFL scandal that's been dubbed Deflategate on Tuesday, and now seems to be doing his best to take his mind off things.

Doting on his children on a day out in New York, Tom was accompanied by his glamorous wife, retired supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

Tom Brady's appeal has failed and his suspension is upheld. Apparently he asked an assistant to destroy evidence, the cell phone he used during the week of Deflategate. Then he had the gall to tell the NFL he destroys his cell phones all the time. Once again, Tom Brady proves he's the biggest douche in football.

Tom Brady destroyed his cell phone, told NFL he destroys cell phones all the time

Is this a thing rich people do?

Tom Brady's four-game suspension for the DeflateGate scandal was upheld by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, in part because Brady deliberately destroyed his cell phone, in spite of the fact that the NFL's investigation had requested the phone.
From the NFL's official statement:
On or shortly before March 6, the day that Tom Brady met with independent investigator Ted Wells and his colleagues, Brady directed that the cell phone he had used for the prior four months be destroyed. He did so even though he was aware that the investigators had requested access to text messages and other electronic information that had been stored on that phone. During the four months that the cell phone was in use, Brady had exchanged nearly 10,000 text messages, none of which can now be retrieved from that device. The destruction of the cell phone was not disclosed until June 18, almost four months after the investigators had first sought electronic information from Brady.
While destroying evidence isn't an admission of a guilt, it was probably a big red flag to Goodell. After all, the initial punishment handed out to Brady and the Patriots seemed to stem more from their failure to cooperate with the investigation than their actual breaking of the NFL's rules. However, Brady argued that he wasn't intentionally avoiding the league's investigation when he destroyed his phone: He just destroys his phone a lot:
Brady communicated to the commissioner that he routinely destroys his phone for security reasons.

Apparently Goodell didn't buy this or didn't care.

I actually think Roger Goodell is the biggest douche in football...not that it excuses any of Brady's conduct. I can't imagine that his lawyer didn't tell him waaaaaay before he talked to Ted Wells that he had to turn over his phone and any other evidence. Wonder if some fool will talk him into taking this to court now...

With Brady's ego, I could see that happening.

I believe that many wealthy celebrities destroy their old cell phones on a regular basis. Tom's situation, however, was not normal at the time that he had his phone destroyed so he made himself look arrogant, guilty, as well as unintelligent, in my opinion. The investigation easily found his cell phone from prior to deflategate, that was not destroyed, so his defense collapsed on top of him.

I imagine Tom had his choice of the best legal minds in football in the entire US. All of them, very smart, shrewd and expensive. I doubt any lawyer of his supported his decision to tell ridiculous lies.
