Thank you, hair-mess. I'm blushing, of course!
Before my mother passed away in 1999, she told both my sister and me to take a part of our inheritance and buy something very special to remember her by. I thought that an Hermes Kelly was a befitting remembrance.
So, in 2002, I finally bought one and for many days just stared at it and held it and looked at it, stitch by stitch; inch by inch. It was so perfect in every way - I couldn't even bear to carry it, and I just had to thank Mr. Dumas for providing such a wonderful inheritance.
I wrote the letter in October and sent it off to Paris. Several months passed, and I just kind of forgot about it. Then one day just a couple of weeks before Christmas, I came home to find the letter (with a hand-addressed envelope), and I was so thrilled - thrilled with the letter and thrilled all over again with the Kelly and with Hermes.
And, eight years later, I'm still thrilled with Hermes and the fact that there is a company that still exists making goods of unsurpassed quality. Luxury goods, yes, but legacy goods, as well.
