Thanks for posting the two versions --- I knew for some reason the "newer" version wasn't calling to me like the originals - and it's so clear with your photos! The details are really different, and it takes away from the baseman creature-y slightly subversive impact. I agree, not as edgy.

Ewwww. How horrible. They are now so cheap looking. The outline of them is now all rounded and looks like a childs cut-out. The jagged edges representing hair and claws or whatever, is gone. And what the hell is up with the collars or whatever at the neckline? Couldn't they afford enough leather to go from one side to the other side? Now it looks like just what it is, an unfinished piece.
I hope they didn't mess Emmanual Hare Ray as much.

Could you post the photo of the first version of the Emmanual Hare Ray fob? I know it's on here somewhere, but for the life of me I couldn't manage to dig it up. :shame:
Thanks for pointing out the part about the collar. I still have my order and will probably keep the order until I receive the fob, but I'm probably not going to keep them. Oh well, $$$ saved!
Aside from lack of detailing, Emmanuel is not leaning slightly forward in the new fob, thus changing the attitude and feel of the original.
Also, perhaps it is the photo, but the newer versions don't have the richness of color of the original ones either.

I wonder if the new versions are smaller than the originals. They seem that way because of the fob size relative to the clip size. That would also explain the more simplified designs.
There was a photo that included what I assume was an original fob on a Swagger that a model/guest was carrying at one of the Coach parties in Asia and I remember thinking at the time that it looked fairly large. I'll have to find it and check again.

Great memory! I remember that photo too! The leather fobs really stood out because of how large they were. The size really added to the edginess and made it easier to justify the $115 price for a leather fob.
