So I hate to ask a stupid question…I cannot find any of these items on the LV website. Where am I going wrong? I’m searching the US web site. Thank you!
Not stupid at all!! LV is a weird website sometimes. When you search fornasetti all that comes up for me are five pieces - none bags. If you’re interested in the Alma search for the Alma and that piece will show up with other Alma‘s, if you want the Cannes bag, search on Cannes and so on. Alternatively if you know the Mxxxxx 5 digit code, you can search on that. And for a little while, LV had a large pic on the initial webpage that said something like women’s fall/winter and it shows up there. Hope this helps!

I know, they have done a really bad job promoting this collection. You have to search for the items specifically e.g. by bag type…“Fornasetti“ as a search term does not work

Major disappointment on the Alma bb. This is the real deal shiny cheap feeling patent leather. I’m torn as this little bag is beautiful to look at, but the hand is awful except for the gorgeous matte black calfskin on the bottom of the bag which was described as the same leather on the white body. And if the white leather had been the same this would have been a total stunner in every way. I’m am truly disgusted that LV constantly makes mistakes, mis-describes items, etc etc. never would have ordered had it been described as patent. At least when I order vernis I have chosen that finish, and love my two vernis pieces - this feels like a bait and switch. I’m attaching a few pics for those of you that can’t see irl. The first pic looks like matte calfskin, but the other two show its shiny slick finish.

For such a little bag it holds a lot, and I love the mono straps, handles and inside mono cloth, the lock keys and clochette. The worst part is trying to figure out if the print and the rest is worth the cheap patent body with the awful hand. As most here know, leather like patent, epi, epsom, saffiano are lower grade leathers that get stretched coated or imprinted to hide imperfections. And this body just feels cheap and looks cheap in bright light. And I hate returning things to my lovely SA - I know they can turn around and sell to someone that would love the bag, but yikes.

Oh well, grousing session done. I know some here love patent, and I buy a patent bag about once every 5 years but this wasn’t supposed to be patent! Not for almost $3k. Good luck everyone, hope you are happy with what you receive. It’s too expensive otherwise. Now I have a decision to make. Hope everyone gets what they wanted though.

PS I’m usually not so grumpy, so pardon the griping, but if anyone would get the disappointment of something you totally didn’t expect when you are so excited to receive a new bag, it would be the lovely people here on tpf!

Your pic #2 is so obvious it showed as a cheap bag. I won’t keep it either. It’s a shame. The print is actually unique and special tho. But I am glad you finally decided to keep it and enjoy it. For the price you better love it or don’t.

It is so funny - I absolutely adore this bag now. The patent doesn’t bother me anymore, partly because this little beauty is so gorgeous to look at and so lightweight it’s a dream to carry! It is also perfect in every way, stitching, seams, interior etc. (another not always the case with LV quality) I ran everywhere with it yesterday, and could hardly feel it on my shoulder and it carries everything I need. So an initial impression this time didn’t stick. it also looks stunning with an all black outfit and a brown black and white H scarf I have so she’s a keeper. I won’t have another piece like this so it filled a niche in my collection. BUT, next time when ordering from my SA at a distance I’m going to confirm details for sure. LV isn’t known for its spot on accuracy of information on multiple levels!

Glad to hear you’re enjoying her. LV Alma is a great bag, especially with this special collection is nice thing to add to anyone’s collections. I agree with you, next time asks lots of questions or better seeing it in person first before purchase. Enjoy your weekend.

Picked mine up the other day and the main body is indeed patent. Both my CA and I were surprised. But I ended up really loving it and love that the coating gives the design extra protection.

Good. I hope to feel this way, too. I had no idea that the design was patent leather. Makes me wonder if that cheapens the bag at all? Please tell me that it doesn't. I wanted the bag so badly, and just finally got it late last night, and was totally surprised!!

Hey everybody! I’ve decided to chime in regarding the Alma as I’ve seen every bag in store at this point. The collection (architectural print) is split half and half in bags when it comes to shiny vs matte. The bags with the architectural print that are matte are the Capuccines, OTG, Neo Noe, and the Petit Sac Plat. The rest are in a coated calfskin. I wouldn’t say they are patent as they actually aren’t that shiny. It’s almost like a glazing that will catch the light just a little bit to accentuate the design but nothing that would interfere or distract from the beautiful print. If any of you are familiar with Fornasetti candles, I would say that’s almost exactly what it feels like in person when looking at it. Completely matte from some angles and highlighted in other angles. I had initially ordered two bags - the petit sac plat and the petite malle but after seeing how the matte version almost makes the design look like a drawing rather than a piece of art, I dropped the petit sac plat and picked up a cannes in its place. I don’t really think you can compare this finishing to vernis so think of it as something completely new and have your mind open to it! I have a video of the Cannes in direct sunlight that I am going to try to put on this thread that shows it is mostly matte even in direct sun!

Thank you for this info. I just received my Alma BB late last night after I came home from work and was shocked to see that it was not smooth, matte leather, but more like patent leather. I'm glad you clarify that it's not really patent but a glazing, and not sure if there is a difference, but it makes me feel better about buying this LE piece. I was confused when another poster above said that she received her Alma bb and it was matte and not patent leather. Maybe she was not clarifying like you did here. I don't know, but thank you for the info!
