Reglisse is the French word for licorice and IMHO European licorice is browner than US licorice - I'm talking about the original black stuff not the tutti frutti colors seen these days

That reglisse should be used to describe a brown by Hermes does not surprise me . Their color definitions are nothing if not idiosyncratic ... eg the term bleu canard does not refer to any particular shade of blue-green - the term has been used to describe anything from a deep turquoise to almost a grass green

I think that is all on purpose - to fake out the fakers - if bleu canard always meant the same thing, then they would have an easier time duplicating the latest bleu canard scarf

Interesting analysis marietouchet! I have noticed the same thing with just plain ole "orange". I have three shawls described as "orange" and the color ranges from very bright to muted.

I can't believe I missed this post last month! I literally gasped with excitement when I saw this one!

Hmm... so I tried on a bunch of the new 90cm designs and none of them excited me. Anyone else feel this way? The ones I was excited about (coupon and the one with the multiple designs) just didn't look good on me when tied.

The shawls, on the other hand... :graucho:

Tods, you are an angel - thank you so much for posting all these additional pics!! :flowers:

beaumonde, I felt the same about the 70s and was particularely dissapointed with the Brandenbourgs - I think the 70s format is just too small for it.
By chance I tried the Chaines & Gourmettes, which I thought looked a bit bland at first, but loved it when tied.

Here are two additional CWs (blue and orange) for the Ex libris Cashmere shawl. Everyone please excuse the bad quality pic.
