He's a jeweler in SC.

I didn't look at all the 291 listings for stolen items but the ones I opened were all stolen on Feb. 23, 2016 in Naples, FL.

I thought stolen goods had to be held for a year to wait for the rightful owner to claim them! Why is he allowed to sell them in less than 60 days?

Have no idea. I can't figure out if these are his items that were stolen or if they were someone elses. Confusing!!:confused1:

I'm totally confused.

According to the seller's ME page, it was his company store that was robbed on Feb. 23 in Naples.

What I don't understand is how he's selling the items if they were stolen from him.

And if this is his way of hoping someone will contact him with information about the lost goods, what's he selling?

Well...that makes 2 of us. If the items are stolen, what's he selling? Don't really understand the listing with a selling price. Seems like if Ebay allows this kind of listing, there would be a special section for it & not just randomly in the Jewelry & Watches catagory. I just happened upon this while randomly browsing.

Maybe he's leaving the listings up but putting the word stolen on them so if the thieves try to sell them there is proof of ownership? I agree it is puzzling why Bay would allow this.

This is totally weird and getting weirder by the minute!

At this point, even though I felt bad for the seller, margaford, who was a victim of a robber, there's no way in he!! that I'd buy from him/her.

"Someone" (a friend, not me) emailed for clarification and the response she received from margaford is a total turnoff!

In my opinion, the questions asked of the seller are totally reasonable considering the circumstances and way the listings are posted.

-------------------------------------------------------

Buyer question: While admiring this piece I became concerned and rather befuddled as to why a lot of your listings state the items are stolen. Can you please clarify for me? Thank you.

Seller margaford's response: We were robbed after the Naples Art & Antique Show on Feb 23, 2016.

Buyer question: The listing title makes it seem like the item listed is a stolen piece. Are the items actually for sale or are you trying to let people know that the items listed were stolen from you?

Still confused here. Sorry.

Seller margaford's response: Are you kidding????? Enough, stolen from me. I am blocking you.

I'm tempted to "buy" one just to see what happens.

WOW!!! That is completely weird. You would think the seller would actually welcome questions & possibly help in locating the items if they were actually stolen. The seller's last response & then blocking the buyer is one of those Whaaat moments. The questions asked were polite & reasonable given the listings. I suppose the seller is tired of have to answer questions about this but at the same time makes no effort to clarify the listings or even take them down & relist with clarification. While if they are victims of theft, with their attitude, I don't think I would buy from them. Strange, just strange.

There actually was at least one instance where a scammed seller (trader) posted here and 1 of her Chanel bags was located when listed by a pawn shop ebay seller in Las Vegas. She'd posted pictures and (IIRC) serial numbers and the listing was located.

So yes, stolen good can be located when the victim is nice about it!
