French Pedicure....Out of Style???

I think its a matter of personal choice.

Personally I don't like to wear solid colours on my toenails as otherwise I'd have to paint them everyday to match whatever shoe or outfit I'd be wearing - a huge PITA for someone low-key like me.

So I always, always get French on my toes even through our hard Canadian winters. I use OPI's Rosey Future as the top coat, which gives it a lovely sheen, better than the standard French.

I wish I was pale enough to pull off some of the really bright colours for warmer weather , but I don't like the way they look of my darker skin tone.

I don't know what porn stars have to do with it - by that argument no one should wear high heels and stockings either. If you look, Vicky B also wears French a lot, and despite her inflated fake boobs, she isn't a porn star , but considered by many a fashion forward person.

IMO, I don't like it...they make people look like they haven't cut their toenails for a while.

BUT some do look fine, i guess lol. I would never get a french pedi, i stick to solid colors.

I don't ever see people with French pedis anymore. I don't know if they're out of style, or if people just prefer bright colors for summer.

I know I used to prefer French pedis to color for my toes, but it just started to look too overdone to me. I think because everyone had it like that for a while. Now I love bright colors for my toes in summer and darker colors in winter. I still love French manis, though.

You know what I've been wondering? When did people first start doing French pedicures? I don't remember seeing them until the mid-to-late 90's, but I know French manicures were around long before that.

I guess I'm in the minority here since I dislike French pedis. I don't think they look natural at all, and I think they tend to make toenails look longer than they actually are. I personally prefer brights or darks on my toes, but if I wanted something natural looking I would opt for a sheer (probably something by Essie).

I am with you. I don't like them either. If going for the natural look, I would do an Essie color like Mademoiselle (at least the old one, think the changed it in recent years so it has become more pink) or OPI's Coney Island Cotton Candy. These still give a sheer and natural look. I don't think the white on the french is natural looking. Also, it accentuates the growth in my opinion, and when I get my toes done, I have them take that off.

I am not a fan of the french manis either. I rarely put color on my hands either, I prefer the natural look and I think the colors I mentioned above give that look.

I always do french on my toes, IMO it looks nicer with dressy sandals than a color....

but yesterday I did my toes and opted for a bright pink and the lady did some cute flowers.... vacation starts on thursday so why not!!!!! lol

I used to looove getting French mani/pedis. I still love them, but I hate how they're more expensive to get, so I started doing my own nails at home (with just solid colors).

I will always love French mani/pedis. I read somewhere that the editor of Allure said french manicures were trashy and cheap looking. WTF?

I really like French manicures on short, natural nails. I would hate the look on my toes. But I have seen other ladies look really great with French pedis. I doubt that it will go out of style, or be a faux pas.

I bought the Sally Hanson French Manicure kit for $4 and did my own nails. Saved like $50!

I love French mani/pedis. They look nice on me and they're cheap because I do them myself. They do take more time, though.

I hate nail colors that are too dark. The darkest I would go is a wine-colored red in the winter. Black and blue? Yuck. I did that in high school and it always turned my nails yellow.
