Is there a time limit as to when you need to finish all the courses by? I want to register but I am going back to work soon so I won't be able to finish the courses as quickly as I hoped.

I took advantage of one of the courses thanks to the info from this thread. I do not recall if there is a time limit to complete the course although I vaguely remember something about three months. I made it through half of the Diamond Essentials class in about 90 minutes today. I have done a lot of research in the past so much of material is familiar but I have learned a few interesting things. I kind of wish there were more videos of diamonds haha.

I just looked at my course and it must be completed 3 months from the start date. My start date was May 18 so my completion date is August 18. I spent about 3 hours on the Diamond Essentials course and only have the final exam to complete.

Oh darn! I was going to register in June when I expect work to slow down a bit. Maybe they’ll open more spots due to high demand.

I hope they would!! I would like to take the course. According to the GIA website

"Due to the overwhelming popularity of this no-cost offer, we have reached capacity for May and June start dates and are not accepting any new enrollments beginning May 21, 2020. Courses starting in July are available for enrollment at the published tuition.

We are working to assist those already in the registration process and appreciate your patience."

I signed up for all three courses and spaced the start date two weeks out each as I was not sure how long it would take to finish a course. I’ve been taking the first one, it’s pretty easy and a person could easily finish a course in a weekend. I look at all the videos too.

They are great and I would highly recommend them.

You have 3 months to finish and also get access to an instructor.

Darn, missed it. What a great deal, whoever finishes please update with your experience. I’m a hobby silversmith and would love to take a few of the GIA classes.

Hi! You may want to sign up for the GIA newsletter in case they offer these classes for free again.

GIA is also doing free webinars and some of the topics might be of interest to you (you will get notified via the newsletter). Same with Gem FliX, free webinars too.

I finished my final exam for the Diamond Essentials class today. It was a good overall course. I learned many interesting things that gave me some background and history. The supplemental materials were nice too. They mentioned their diamond grading course and I think that would be fun to take.
