FIRST CHANEL HELP!

Hi everyone! First thread here! Looking to buy my first Chanel hopefully this week and my friends are sick of hearing about it so I thought I would ask everyone on here for opinions.
My dream bag has always been a lamskin classic flap size small black GHW. I typically carry a bigger bag for work on longer days when i'll need makeup, hand cream, a few extras. For dinners, or just running around, my Gucci wallet on chain is my most grabbed. I fell in love with the shiny crumpled calfskin offered last year, but the small is not available. It is still available in the medium however I am only about 5'3, a size zero, and unsure if this will be too big on my body. I do wear about a 2-3 inch heel more often then flats during the day, but I am still not sure.
My other option would be the new blue lambskin with rainbow metal. I mostly wear black so the shiny crumpled calfskin so black would look great with my day looks but I could have a lot of fun styling the blue with rainbow hardware.
What do you guys think? Is lambskin too delicate even in the mini? Any ideas on how the shiny crumpled calfskin wears with use? Sizing opinions?
Because of the major price increases I am leaning towards the medium black as I don't see myself buying this size in the future and would love to have a special edition. I never buy handbags because I know how much I've always wanted a chanel but spending so much has me a little nervous, I don't want to feel any regrets.

The medium isn’t a particularly large bag by any margin. You wouldn’t have an issue using it at all. I’d suggest that size over the mini unless you don’t plan to carry much because the medium itself is rather small.

I love, love, love that mini blue but I’d go for the so black medium for my first. As Christofle said the medium is not large at all. I still consider it a small bag.

Yes the blue is so beautiful , my Saks has that color in mini and medium but I've heard with lambskin its better to go smaller! I am also leaning towards black as the minis are a lot more attainable cost wise in the future. Thank you so so much!!!!

If this is going to be your only classic flap, and your dream bag is the small classic flap in lambskin with gold hardware, maybe you should get that. I feel that the shiny calfskin so black will look dated in a while, whereas the black lambskin with ghw will look current for a long long time.

That was definitely one of my concerns! I think that I am just attracted to something unique as I see so much chanel in my area already. I was even thinking about getting the lambskin bag vintage in the future as they are so beautiful, but I don't know much about how or where to do that! I am hoping for this to be the first of many (not too many) purchases! I do feel as though I could always get that in the future or may even decide against that size one day but I am so conflicted! Every bag is so beautiful!!! Thanks so much!!!

The black medium classic flap—classic Chanel with a twist. The black medium will probably pair well with more outfits and be easier to wear everyday than the bright blue mini. My first classic flap was my dream bag—vintage with 24K gold-plated hardware—so even though a light pink or purple classic flap made my eyes sparkle, the black classic flap made me heart sing.

I would go with what you want first. I think the blue is gorgeous but if you have one in mind and that's your holy grail, you'll always want it.
The blue will most likely not come back for a very long while whereas the black one will come back a few more times . Overall, get what you want.

UPDATE! Thank you everyone so much! I knew this forum was interesting but I couldn't have imagined how helpful!!! I was leaning towards the black as it I wear black a ton! I thought the mini blue was a super fun pop of color but I figured I'm more likely to purchase a mini in the future than I am medium size so I should make the jump and stop drooling over it as the price has already gone up once since it came out. I was extremely anxious about spending so much money, but everyone on here made me so accepted and excited! I was shocked at how small the medium actually is! It definitely is wider than my body if I wear a little black dress, but I feel the size will be right for more occasions than not! Heres a picture of my very first Chanel child!! Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote or comment, this was more helpful than I could have ever expected and probably the exact push I needed to get something I love and have always wanted. Every time I look at her I smile!

You are so sweet and exactly right! I still love the black and gold, but I already have bags with those colors I use often and the vintage ones are so beautiful to me. I love that this one is just a cool cousin of the same bag! The size was shocking to me in person, but I am so happy with her!!! Thank you so much!!

Thank so much!! I was so conflicted because I know how hard the black and gold ones are to get, but I found a picture of the so black next to a black lambskin GHW and it just looked so unique it helped sell me! I am so excited to give this bag some use!!
