Fire In My Classroom Today!

I teach 2nd grade. I have 20 students. In FL all the buildings are separate. So, I just had them step outside.

What makes it even funnier was that it was 2 minutes (3:28) before the bell rang for the kids to be dismissed. I kept my purse with me until 4:00 hanging outside at the Bus Loop because I didn't want to be in there with the stinky smoke and have it stink up my bag.

I told a couple other teachers what happened about hte fire and they were like, your Coach didn't get damaged did it? They know how I am obsessed with Coach.

The bag being a (very rare) Coach or not...one's handbag contains alot of necissities (I can't spell that)...no?

cell phone...car keys...money...maybe an address/phone book...health insurance cards.

I was actually yelled at once when we had a fire drill in our building at work and I left my bag in my desk. so now it's the first thing I grab, and quite honestly, grabbing your bag takes minimal seconds.

glad everyone (and Carly!) are ok!

I am glad that you, Carly and your kids are okay!

When I worked at Michael's way back in the day, we had something similiar happen. We called 911, two huge fire trucks came out, we evacuated the building, etc, etc. We're all standing around outside waiting for the all clear from the firemen, and you wouldn't believe how many people would either go up to the door (since by this time it we found out it it wasn't a fire, just some smoke through the ventilation system, but better safe than sorry) or ask us when we were going to open up again. Um hello? Firemen...fire trucks! When they say it's okay, it's okay. LOL.

I am a teacher, too. However, in an upscale high school. Most of the girls have nicer bags than me...lots of Mercedes, Range Rover, and BMW key inside them, too!

Then, wouldn't it be nice if some of your students gave you some "Coach love" for Christmas!!?
