Final watch decision!

The saga continues! I love it! We're not talking about a throwaway watch so it's great you're considering your options carefully - and how lucky you are to have such great ones!

Not sure if this helps but I made peace with the fact that if I want a Cartier BB auto I'm going to have to go with sz 33 minimum. I thought about Rolex (approximate same price point for mech, at 29mm) but I just don't fancy that brand. I'm also trying to find out about current prices on Patek (look out for the thread in the future! LOL) since I'm already inching up in price points. My main objective is to find a classic heirloom watch. It seems like now you're considering longevity, too. I just don't see a point (for my wallet, personally) to spend so much money on something that will poop out in coming years. Especially if it's only a difference in $1500, not $15k. I guess some people could justify cost per wear but I dunno, I'm a sucker for those stories where people say "Oh, this was my grandmother's watch from 19xx". Seems like lately everything I buy (H handbags to jewelery) I keep in mind passing them down to my children. God knows where prices will be in the future.

Looking forward to thread #5 (?) when you do a reveal! Or at least let us know how this adventure ends!

I love the tank on you the best! second choice would be 33mm bb. The tank looks so classy on you and is so classic- I really don't know if BB will stand the test of time or look dated down the road. Tank will be a forever classic!!!!!!

Love the Tank with a jewel toned band!

Is the 33 more than you're comfortable spending right now? That would help narrow it down!

My dh is into watches, I asked his opinion and he said quartz wouldn't stop him from buying a watch he loved, but ideally prefers auto...I concur. (He also said you should get a Rolex, he's really biased lol)

They're all beautiful...28 is ladylike and feminine, 33 is fresh and elegant, Tank is classy!

Yes I first said I would do 3600, then I increased it to 4400, so it keeps making me nervous to continue to increase my budget. Is the Rolex movement that much superior? I always wrote off the brand to myself because it seemed so much more sportier than my jewelry taste was and it was more prevalent in my area, but even the jeweler told me look at Rolex more than Cartier lol. Thank you for asking your husband on my behalf!

My bf likes the smaller bb on me, and thinks the tank is too old for me, but in my head if they are both quartz, and for a little more I'll be getting a solid gold face, wouldn't that maintain it's value more than the ss quartz bb? Im a little worried if I tire of the bigger watch, but if it suits me and looks classic then I'll feel better. I think I'm scorned from that Michele caber watch I regretted, it was just too tight and uncomfortable on my wrist after a while. I do like the big watch look, I like the MK gold watch look everyone is doing, so it's hard, the bb is very clean looking, the small bb looks like it would work with VCA pieces in the future, the 33 makes a statement, and has the auto movement while highlighting one of my favorite aspects of watches- the Roman numerals. The tank is long and fits my wrist nicely, and if I could afford it, the gold bracelet had a very cool Art Deco scallop design and I am a sucker for anything Art Deco. I still have a 1300 Tiffany credit and it's taking all self restrain to not buy the tassel necklace lol

My plan was to buy the watch, and eventually this year into next year buy a love ring and trinity ring to stack together. Meanwhile I'll eventually be adding more eternity bangles and diamond earrings from a jeweler versus name brand. The atlas bangle all of the fashion bloggers are wearing calls to me as well, but regardless after the watch and rings I wanted to take a break and work on acquiring some hand bags. So technically i will eventually be spending the amount of the automatic, but I had preferred to pay for the watch with that budget now and then start saving for the rings leisurely.

I'll say it again (God...I do sound like your Mother!)...I think you are getting sidetracked with the Tank. While the Tank is lovely you have been "dreaming of a Cartier BB" (look above). That said, I like the 28mm with the plain roman numerals. The 33mm looks great, too but you have to feel comfortable. I can see the Tank as a second watch, down the road but I'd stick to your first love...first.

Lol! No I always appreciate your feedback!

I still say the BB in 28 with roman numerals :D second choice the BB in 33mm 3rd is the Tank- reason is while it is nice and it is gold it's not what you've been coveting for so long plus I think the BB is fresher and more modern

They all look beautiful on you! But the tank looks really special on you, this style does not look good on everyone, and classy. Bb feels trendier to me. It's definitely a newer style. But they all suit you.

Did you decide on a bb?
I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to go with the BB (if I do, it will be 33 two tone) or just wait to get it down the road (maybe for my 45 in a couple of years. I did buy a pre-owned, midsize stainless Tank Francaise a couple of weeks ago in immaculate condition which I am absolutely loving. I was really drawn to the fact that it's so classic and a different shape than my 36 mm Rolex datejust which I also am loving and was a gift from my hubby two years ago for my 40th. Like you, I'm really focused lately on not buying trendy jewelry but classics that will stand the test of time that I can pass on to my daughter some day. I also feel like I don't want to buy jewelry just to acquire it. I want it to have special significance. I am actually contemplating what I want from my husband in the fall for our 10th anniversary. I was thinking about the love (actually bought it pre-increase but cancelled the order as I just can't get myself to pull the trigger on it) I've also thought about the bb for this milestone. But honestly, I love the tank the best of all options. I may just put it away until November and have him gift me that. It's the kind of watch I would want to pass along to DD some day and have her know that it came from daddy for our 10th anniversary. The other pieces seem to trendy to me or expensive for what they are (no offense to anyone who owns them) and do I really need a third watch?!?!? I don't know….. I'm getting too wrapped up in it all from reading TPF posts all the time... I think I need a break :confused1:
