Ferragamo underrated?

Well, I don't know where you guys live, but I believe in Europe (esp. in Italy) Ferragamo is a quite well-known and appreciated brand :oh: ... and not for old people, lol  I don't see how colourful headbands with bows, candy-coloured bags and eg. SLGs with cute animals would be for older people - I sometimes find them even too 'young' and childish  Occasionally I feel that my pink bag with a bow looks like a toy (but I like it anyway):biggrin: But of course, just like with any other brand, you can find classic, mature pieces, too.

I think Italians of all ages are quite proud of it (I've seen Italian women (not old, hehe) excitedly exclaim 'Ferragamo!' in a foreign country when they saw Ferragamo items at some stores, lol, and then admiringly inspect the bags)... even a young Italian rapper Clementino mentions Ferragamo's luggage in his new song as a sign of luxury  (the song is called 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'). Also, I found it funny when I was shopping in Milan at Dior last year and the SA showed me a pink Dior bag... and when I told her I just got a Ferragamo bag in the same colour recently, she nodded admiringly and I got a feeling she actually preferred Ferragamo to Dior which she was trying to sell

Anyway, I'm actually glad that Ferragamo pieces are not so wide-spread, as I prefer not to carry the same stuff as everybody else around me  More for me :giggle:
Brava! Today the summer sale started at Ferragamo and I have my eyes on a new bag, which is fab!

I honestly am not sure if they are completely discontinuing. I don’t see new color after they reworked the design (which I disagreed with their choice). I love the original Sofia with the wings. They reworked it to the one they are selling online with the rainbow pocket. I don’t see them making new color since they released the studio bag.
e new rendition is the margot bag, i think

I was browsing at Chanel one day, and the Chanel SA told me she liked my Ferragamo Sofia, and she told me it was much better than Chanel bags!! LoL. She had an Italian accent.

It's a shame they don't have a progressive design team. People want a little excitement, and Ferragamo in its bags division leads with bland. Consistently. I've tried many times to like a bag well enough to buy it, and I find quality manufacture and good leather but a yawn factor. The safe, under the radar approach is risky. It works for Hermes, but that's a rare exception.

Well, it doesn't work if you want flashy and recognisable, if you want quality, distinctive and durable, it works well, it's not fast food, flash in the pan, which personally is something I love

My very first designer bag was a Ferragamo. This was 15 years ago. Although I moved on to LV and Hermes I have yet to find anything that can compare to my first bag in workmanship and quality. I have been admiring the ‘Sophia’ lately so it might be my next bag.
