Fashionphile? The RealReal? Hermes Birkin

I just read that fashionphile has sold fakes. Should I be worried about my new birkin?

I am going to buy another from TheRealReal in store. What should I look for? Should I be worried about authenticity? I feel like you can't trust anyone! Every online shop has a post about fakes.

I’ve bought and sold many bags off of fashionphile, including birkins and a kelly. I’ve never had any issues regarding authenticity. Where did you hear they sell fakes from? Keep in mind as well if it is fake, it isn’t a final sale. The only issue I had once was that the wrong clochette came with the Kelly. They refunded me the cost to get a new clochette made from Hermes. Maybe you can try to send it to the Hermes spa if you’re really worried.

I honestly trust fashionphile. They guarantee the authenticity of their products and have several layers of authentication in house and externally. They back up the authenticity of their items with a lifetime guarantee so that gives you added piece of mind. Needless to say Bababebi is amazing and knows her stuff. I’m glad you feel better about the authenticity of your bag OP, enjoy her, she’s a stunner!
I buy & sell with Fashionphile quite often & I have always had a very pleasant experience. Nothing I have bought has ever been fake. They are very professional & very well organized with great customer service. I highly recommend.

Oh, I agree. WE are all human~buyers & sellers & can make mistakes. Getting things authenticated is wisdom for sure. I just meant that FP is not intentionally selling fakes.

I don't think FP intentionally lists fakes, but I have seen fake H scarves listed there on more than one occasion.

The long thread on FP in the eBay thread at TPF has lots of info, good and bad.

Moral of the story, oft repeated here, get purchases from a reseller authenticated by someone whom you know to be reliable!

I bought two Birkin from TRR. The first was at the NYC flagship store and the second was online. Great experience with them. Amazing customer service. Actually weeks later the SA who help me emailed me to check in and ask if I was enjoying the bags. I also had them both authenticated by Bababebi. As far as returning goes I was told by SA that with huge purchases like Birkin’s they will allow you to return because they understand the amount of money being spent.

hi all, i’m refreshing this thread. what would you do if Fashionphile doesn’t provide enough photos for authentication? can you request from them? i’d prefer to have bababebi authenticate before forking out that much money (the worry of fighting with them if i were to purchase it, have her authenticate and it turned out fake) i’d rather have peace of mind to begin with. also, do they insure these bags when they ship them? the thought of waiting the for delivery also would give me anxiety  sorry for all the questions, hope for any of your insight. thanks

Fashionphile has a free returns no questions asked policy as long as their tag has not been removed so I wouldn’t worry about that. They also have a high success rate with only selling authentic items. As with any online purchase, its on the seller to get the item to you safely. The insurance only protects them, not you, so it doesn’t really matter if they have insurance, they owe you the bag or your money regardless (but I’m guessing that yes they do carry insurance on their packages).

Yes, Fashionphile insures their package with signature required, if you waive signature then it's not insured.

Cool beans. Thank you both!

Agree with everyone above. Not to beat a dead horse, but also consider accuracy on condition. Even if there is a return no questions asked policy, it is still a pain to receive something, be disappointed with what you got, and then have to go through the hassle of obtaining an RMA, packing it and shipping it back.

I wish TRR would include more pictures of the H bags they post. They really should photograph all of the parts of a bag that the tpf authentication thread requires. Also, it would be helpful if there was an easy and quick way to ask a question about the description provided for an item. For example, if the listing description says “35cm” but the detailed description includes dimensions for a 30cm.

Anyway, I recognize it’s difficult to ask TRR to be as descriptive and specific as resellers who specialize in H items when TRR caters to a broader range of products. Anyway, just sharing.

I could be nuts but I was checking my individual Birkin bag dimensions, one ostrich one fjord, and I saw they varied quite a lot by eyeball and by dimensions listed on Fashionphile and TheRealReal. Then I started cross checking the same bags on either sites, I started to notice that most of the ones I checked have different dimensions listed, even within type. Are you familiar with this? Is it normal because they are handmade. It's pretty significant.
