Thanks ladies!!!

really love carine roitfield's longer one.. but i might end up breaking this for sure ...
and this is a compression pendant by César Baldaccini which i think is pretty awesome!!!

Hey all! Ok so this isn’t totally Cartier, but I’ve been driving myself nuts over this for weeks, and today is my birthday, so wanted to pick something out!

I’m looking for the perfect everyday necklace. Originally, I was going to have one made (first picture is the CAD) from some old diamonds I have.

I was scrolling through a cartier fb page and I saw the large Diamants ledgers necklace and thought it was just gorgeous. I’ve always been one to buy the iconic pieces (love, JUC, etc), but never a name brand diamond that isn’t recognizable just based on the fact that I know I’m overpaying for that ct weight in a bezel setting. Still, I love the look.

I recently had a baby in April (yay Diamond birthstone), and was also considering the Maya brenner pave necklace that I could add to as we have more kids, but want sure if I’d get sick of it. I could always add an initial bracelet from her as well if I wanted that instead of the necklace

I also saw a beautiful more plain bezel that I was interested in as well. I’m one to stack bracelets w my love and wear a larger diamond e ring / eternity band, but like my necklaces more dainty.

pic 5 is also a contender

Which should I get as the perfect daily piece?

Congrats on your baby! And, happy birthday  It sounds like you want a bezel diamond on a chain, and you love thr Cartier one. If so, I strongly recommend not settling for something else. If you settle, you will just end up buying what you want in addition to what you settled for.

However, Jewelry does shrink with age, and many independent jewelers can make something similar if you want a significantly larger diamond for less (I don’t know the carat weight of the Cartier). I mix branded designer with other types of jewelry. sometimes I wear a 3carat round that i repurposed as a bezel necklace on a chain from an old ring

Since a couple of weeks ago, I've been lusting after the Cartier Diamants Legers Necklace, Large Model, just like you. There's just something about it. It's 0.18 carat. Just as what @880 has suggested, I then decided to set a budget and ask my jeweller how big a bezel set solitaire necklace I could get. Today my jeweller got back to me for a necklace with a 0.46 carat hearts and arrows solitaire, E colour, VS2, for the same price as the Legers Large Model. I'm most likely going to go with my jeweller since it matches my engagement ring quite well (0.50 carats, E colour, hearts and arrows, VS1). Looking at the design they sketched out, it looks very similar to the Zoe Lev bezel you have in your photos above  Mine will be set in white gold though

The cartier one is pretty small - I wear ALOT of large diamonds otherwise, so wanted this to be a dantier piece- I thought I wanted a design similar to the custom one for a long time! I just don’t want to get sick of it

I’m totally one to just have something like that made too. I also want this to be pretty dainty bc I wear a lot of other large diamonds daily, so like a small little necklace. I’ve wanted the CAD design in the picture for a while too. I just want something that I’ll never get sick of

+1 with @SmokieDragon. Some TPF members and I posted on this thread some ideas on setting a diamond into a necklace. As I said above, i repurposed an older stone, but I’m positive its not great quality (shrugs). it’s just i wanted to use what I had in the jewelry box already. So, if you wanted to go the size route, I would have an honest discussion with your jeweler re eye clean versus ___ whatever grade you are considering. I also posted what mine looked like when worn; it’s not huge, lol. You might want to try on the Cartier and another one with a full length pic of yourself, normal clothes to see what feels most like your personality. Of course, since you wear a lot of large diamonds already, I’m sure you know all this lol

Good point! With covid, I haven’t been going into stores having a baby at home, but normally I’d by flying up to cartier trying it on haha. The design that I did w the jeweler is w stones that I have that are actually really good quality. I have a lot of ugly diamond jewelry from an ex that I’ve been ripping apart over the years. Ugly jewelry but great quality stones . I want something pretty small that I just don’t take off - not a big diamond. My e ring is 2.5 ct center stone, another carat in the setting, then 6 carat band, and I wear it w a love and tennis bracelet as my every day, so I like something really understated for a necklace. I do agree I should try some things for size. I wear a very small cz pave disc right now that I got years ago for like 40 bucks and I love it. It’s super understated.

Perhaps if you love the pave disc, then have a jeweler duplicate it in real diamonds? Dior, I think, also has a pave circle on a chain.
