I'm 58 and I wear either my Cartier Love 2 diamond YG necklace, or just a simple WG chain with a very small, dainty "S" in WG and diamonds. I love the simplicity of it. I can barely feel that it's there.
I'm well passed 50. Everyone has great suggestions! Several have already been mentioned...all mine are non-branded. From casual to dressy.
I love my initial necklace, too...I wear it on a paperclip chain.

I’m in my early 40s and like to switch things up, I would get bored wearing the same necklace everyday. I tend towards classic over trendy these days. The main necklaces I gravitate towards wearing are diamond solitaire (1 carat four prong set and 0.50 bezel set) or VCA Vintage Alhambra in MOP or onyx. I also really like medallion/coin style pendants and my favourites are my Annoushka St Christopher and VCA Astrologie pendant.

If I literally had to pick just one pendant to wear, it would be a diamond solitaire in the biggest size you can afford. Mine is a carat and I think it’s the perfect size for my lifestyle/everyday wear. One day I hope to be able to go bigger!

I’m in my early 50s and I wear a 2.5ct bezel set emerald cut Diamond solitaire set East-west almost every day. Simple, sleek and a bit different since it’s not round! The other necklace that gets regular rotation is a solitaire round set in a hexagon blackened platinum frame fixed on the chain. Again, also a bit different given the hexagon frame. I love Diamond solitaires!

Love ur taste in jewelry you have such a beautiful collection I’ve seen some of ur pics in the jewelry thread. I’ve had my eye on the VCA Astrology pendant too but never seen it IRL. How big would you say the smaller medallion is?

@shatteredstar21 as so many have mentioned already I would get either;

Diamond solitaire necklace
Initial necklace
Cuban link chain
Medallion necklace (I have the Temple St Clair Angel pendent it comes is several sizes with or without diamonds
A Cuban link chain with a biggish pendant is very versatile, imho. You can take out the pendant and it will give you a different look.
I want to be a person who has a signature jewelry look, but I can’t be, LOL. I like variety too much. I really like it when someone has signature pieces that they wear every day and they become part of them. My mom does that with her rings. She almost never changes them up. I’m trying to do that with my bracelets.
A versatile necklace with interchangeable pendants would be wonderful, because a necklace with a fixed pendant, although more luxurious than one with a pendant, can get boring more quickly if you never want to change it up.

That’s a very great idea love the thought of having that one perfect versatile chain necklace with interchangeable pendants :heart: I’ve noticed that David Yurman has so many diff charms and pendant options that are easy to clip on to a chain of any width I’m pretty sure other places might have them too

@shatteredstar21 Has your mom made any choices yet?

As many have suggested, a diamond solitaire is probably considered most classic. A bezel-set like Tiffany’s DBTY design is more clean and modern, plus easier to wear with no chance of snagging, vs a prong-set dangle stone. If she wants something more unique or personal, consider a different stone or shape.

For designer pieces, she really just needs to look at websites to see if any models speak to her. VCA’s Alhambra is very popular…for everyday and longevity I think a diamond version or no stone like guilloche would be ideal. VCA’s aesthetic is quite feminine, and if she likes something more modern and less ubiquitous, imho both Messika and Dinh Van make stunning pendants. I’m in my early 50s and soon hope to make this one mine:
