Hi. I am planning to buy this bag. I was wondering about the quality. How is the quality so far? tia.
I just received the Petra Market in cognac and I absolutely love it!! The leather is to die for!! I haven't had the chance to carry it yet, but I can tell it's most definitely a keeper! The fact that the top is open doesn't bother me at all given the fact that I keep everything in pouches anyway.
I just happened to check their website last night and saw where the black market tote had been listed. It's been out of stock for a while now. Luckily I was able to score one because I've been wanting the black too.
The thing that sold me on these bags is the huge pockets on the inside, the feet on the bottom and the fact the company shows exactly how much it costs to make them and the huge mark up on the name brands. I love that they're made in Italy too, right along with the top brands. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I got mine in less than 4 days after ordering and shipping was free.

Honestly I cannot believe there's not more interest in this brand. They really are gorgeous!

It seems like exactly the black bag I want, but I have rarely strayed from Coach! I wonder if it's a little plain. I've been lusting after the st laurent sdj in black leather with suede sides, but at $3k that's never gonna happen. This seems like the next best thing, and in a better size for me.
Any thoughts?

Can anyone comment on the weight of the Petra Market tote? I want to get a light weight tote for work and am considering this and the LV Neverfull. Please advise, thanks!
I just got a black Petra market tote and it is very light weight. It is a great work tote. It is much much smaller than a Neverfull though. The base of the Everlane is maybe 4-5 inches wide vs the Neverfull's very wide base. You can definitely get a lot into the Everlane, but it is not a kitchen sink bag like the Neverfull.

The leather is absolutely gorgeous, beautifully made, adjustable straps max 11 inches. Bag has feet and is able to stand on its own without flopping. They do recommend that you use a leather protector so you don't get rain spots, leather moisturize.

Does anyone have the casual Petra in black here? I can't decide how I feel about the piping on these.
I have the Magazine and Portfolio in black and I use both of them often. I only wish the pockets on these had zippers.

They are truly beatuiful bags! I can't help but wonder whether Everlane's cost breakdown is just good marketing though. In any case, it doesnt take away from the fact that the bags are gorgeous!
Do any Petra Tote owners have the Madewell Transport Tote? The black one looks very similar to the petra tote. I own the Transport tote and love the design and style; however, the quality leaves little to be desired. The leather picks up scuffs and scratches brushing against everything. I've even taken it to a leather worker to have a wax seal put on it, and the scratches buffed out, but within a few weeks it looks nearly as bad as it did prior. I'm hoping the Petra Tote isn't prone to the same scuffing.

I used the Madewell Transport Tote in English saddle as my laptop bag for about a year and sold it last week. While I don't have a Petra tote, I do have a Petra crossbody, and I find it comparable to high end designer brands like Celine. The leather on it is buttery smooth and luxurious, and the stitching is perfect. I did a side-by-side comparison of the Petra crossbody with the Celine box bag, and they were neck to neck. If the Petra tote is anywhere close to the crossbody in workmanship, it's not even worth comparing to the Transport. I am currently looking to purchase the Petra market tote to replace the Transport tote I just sold, so I'll update if, for some reason, it doesn't quite live up to expectations.
That said, I felt the leather on the Transport was super sturdy... After almost 4 months of DAILY use, it still looked brand new. Perhaps you got a bad one?
