How should the bag be carried to prevent that? Just on the crook of the arm or is it safe to hold the handles normally once a patina started?
Some ladies carry it by the crook of their arm cause of this. I carry it on the crook of my arm sometimes. If I have gloves, I carry it by the handles. I also carry it by hand as long as my hand is clean and I don't have any cream or lotion on. LOL. I'm overdoing it a bit but the handles aren't dirty or the patina isn't uneven yet. When the patina sets in, it's less noticeable to it wouldn't matter as much I guess.

from what i hear, leaving it in the front seat of your car on a hut sunny/summer day will do the trick..

it's literally "baking" it in your car, like an oven.. and the sun, and heat will patina it faster and evenly.

i dont care about my patina for stuff.. i let it naturally tan with all the raindrops and watermarks.. i think it adds a great personality to the piece.. :)

I have said this before and I know its weird but I put my new bags in my tanning bed with leather conditioner applied to all the leather. It gives a nice even patina.

I wonder if I could get a tanning membership for my bags? The gal behind the counter would think I'm nuts  :weird: "No miss, the tan's not for me...but my friend louis" lol.

^^ Don't leave it in there too long. One woman's friend forgot her bag in the car and figured it will be fine only to return to find a darker patina.

I agree with Jimmy. I let my bags go and even if they get water marks, who cares. lol. (unless you're planning to resell!) It just adds to the character. :amuse:
Without trying, my "babies" have developed a lovely patina, watermarks and all. (almost all of them evened with the patina.)
Though i do carry my speedies in the crook of my arm out of habit.

Isn't that sad what that young lady has done to her skin?I have had a tanning bed for years, since I was still too young and dumb to know how bad it is for you.I never use it and don't go in the sun.Thank goodness the sunless products have gotten so much better. My husband uses the bed occasionaly and I just use it for my bags.

So when I get a new bag, can I condition the handles or will that leave dark spots b/c it's new? Can I only use a conditioner when there is a patina?

Also what if there is a light mark or something could I use a magic eraser on new vachetta?

Things I'm wondering

Giggle, giggle I can just see it.... walking into a tanning salon and having to take a number behind all the LVs in line! :)

At least I know I don't have to tan alone any more! :) I will feel like I am getting a deal. Pay for my tan, free tan for Louisy.... :)
