Etoupe - Paladium vs Gold hardware

I was in the same dilemma as you and eventually went with PHW to match the white stitching, and for a clean and modern look. It depends on whether you want a cooler or warmer look as etoupe goes well with either hardware.

Hi all,

I am trying to decide which combination to request from my SA. I have read that Etoupe with gold hardware will look more beige, and with paladium hardware will look more grey.

I love Gris Tourterelle with paladium and Gris Etain with paladium.

I am leaning towards Etoupe with paladium but wanted to ask the pros for their opinions.

TIA!
You're totally right about how things around a color can influence how it looks. Usually what brings out a color in something is its complementary color- but in this case it does feel like the cool tone is more emphasized with phw and warm tone with gold. I also think it looks warmer in leathers other than togo, at least in pictures.

My choice would be for palladium but that's because I like cool tones and prefer the freshness of silver.

If you're leaning more towards phw, I would go for that. Etoupe works with both, ghw and phw, so it really comes down to personal preference. I think the ghw looks more warm, chic and classic while phw looks more cool and modern. I would also look at your jewelry, do you mix metals or do you only wear WG/RG/YG? Personally, my preference is phw for Etoupe. I like it with ghw as well, but to me, Etoupe with phw is easier to wear (I don't own Etoupe, but I have Gris T. and Etain, both with phw). That's me though, just follow your heart and go for the one that you like best and that works best for you. Good luck with your decision :flowers:!

MyDo you wear more warm colors or cool colors? I would think in terms of wardrobe. Do you wear more gold vs silver? Whatever hardware you go with on this bag will be beautiful.
I think it’s a mix? I wear a lot of warm colours, but my jewellery is more silver, pearls. Maybe I’m fooling myself thinking i even have a choice in the hardware that i get offered! Lolll

I had the same thought, that maybe I liked the PHW because of the white stitching? I does give it a clean look.

Thank you! I think I’m leaning towards PHW

thanks! I think i prefer PHW but honestly doubt I have much say in the choice tbh. But, I will certainly tell my SA that PHW would be my preference, but I would love either!

The nice thing about Étoupe is that it's such a true neutral that it works with either hardware.

Therefore, one can easily choose one's preferred HW. I prefer PHW in my bags but think PHW and GHW are equally good with Étoupe. One can think of it as similar to Gold, as bags with the Naturel contrast stitch tend to look more sporty and fresh with PHW and a bit more formal with GHW.

FWIW I do NOT like RGHW with Étoupe, it accentuates the color's tendency toward muddiness.
