Thank you all! Based on your opinions, I decided to experiment with a sauge Evelyne PM. Ive also vacillated Btwn a GM and PM and settled on the PM as best for my 5’2”, medium build (as I don’t carry much). Here is etoupe GM (which I’ve rehomed to DH’s aunt) and sauge pm. Etoupe GM IRL is much more brown and darker. Apologies, I have no idea why sauge pm photo turned out sideways. Love sauge!

Rouge H, Rockerchic, Yumslan, thank you for your advice and the pics and the link!

Ball, Loh , and MAryandDogs, I agree with you re the gorgeous Etain undertone!

Momoc, thank you for your thoughts on this! I am going to enjoy learning more about vert Amande and I will keep in mind, the variation between batches and colors.

Sam Falstaff, I still love etoupe (am keeping my etoupe Victoria) But cannot get the baby poop image out of my head

Raylyn, the rat gray is actually a great description.

thanks all! hugs

Hat Trick, I found my color palette neatly fits with your observation re sauge

Smileygirl, I am thinking my next foray might be GT for a lighter beige. A 'cost cutting' measure (or lowering the price per wear) is if I got my mom something in GT and 'borrowed' it occasionally.

I am keeping my etoupe Victoria bc it doesn't look as much as baby poop as the Evelyne I had.
Yumslan,

Yumslan,
^^ I'm sorry. I really am since etoupe is such a great color!

I have etoupe B35 GHw and etoupe Lindy 30 SHw. My least used H bags for some reason. Can’t combine etoupe with my usual color choices.
My most used bags are red Casaque B 35, orange K32, rouge H K32, blue nuit K28 and black B 30.

Sauge clemence versus vert amande evercolour. Just in case you were wondering
Hat Trick, these are so beautiful! Thank you for sting this pic!

GraffS, i wear etoupe with navy, denim white and beige and black and brown. i Believe that’s similar to TPfer Sam Falstaff. Maybe like Ball, Loh, and MaryandDogs, you might prefer etain? I found Momoc’s descriptions of undertones in colors helpful in figuring out what could be paired with etoupe versus sauge. and, I think Hat Trick laid out some color suggestions Like pairing pink, orange and cream with etoupe. . . If you are in the market for another light neutral, I love sauge and agree with Yumslan that it can go with many colors. And, I agree with Smileygirl that sauce may be my favorite of these neutrals. But, based on the bag colors you listed (they seem darker and more saturated, have you thought of vert Amande (hat tricks pic above) Or as Ball mentioned a color like malachite (I think of malachite as the green version of Rouge H). . .

im sure after I’ve tried these other shades, I will circle back to etoupe ;) I personally like to try out colors in Evelynes bc they are relatively cheap for H and practical (I have some wrist issues that make me appreciate cross body Plus I can gift or trade with my mom, four aunts, cousins etc) the only reason why I haven’t pulled the trigger on etain as well is that I bought a BV hobo in whatever BV calls stain/rat gray, and I haven’t felt the urge to try it on yet. . .

hope these posts will help you to use your etoupe bags

I tried a Etoupe b35, and it just looked brown to me, a color I absolutely don't have in my wardrobe. The most "repelling" remains the white contrast stitching. The SA couldn't believe her ears when I declined that B in étoupe with ghw.
My heart would go for sage, for I love greens of any sort (It began 3 years ago as I purchased a green top which got me a ton of compliments).
My practical sense would go for étain, only because I don't aim at owning many H bags, and prefer a color that won't suffer too much. Plus sage is too light for winter in my place.

The white contrast stitching on Etoupe certainly gives the bag a more casual look. It is not for everyone, I admit.

I really like Etain, because I think it is a great warm color that is still more of a neutral color.

I have a B in etain and a Evelyne in etoupe. I absolutely love my B, the color goes with everything and I still can‘t get enough of her. My Evelyne ist my most used bag, but because of the bag and not because of the color. Every time I wear it, I am thinkinkg that gold would match every outfit I have better. But I can‘t bring myself to sell her as I bougt her in Paris at FSH :-s. I am sure I will some day and replace her with an different color.

My Etoupe K 35 doesn't get a lot of action lately but none of my larger bags due b/c of Covid. It seems that the color varies depending on year and dye lot. Mine is just a tad brown and reads as warm gray under most lighting to my eye. I like the contrast stitching - I think it makes the bag look more crisp.
