etiquette on giving gifts to SAs?

I’m sure I’m not the only one seeing the irony of the tone of some of these posts in a thread on etiquette. Please remember to be respectful towards others in your replies. Disagreement is fine and natural but hostility, rudeness and aggressiveness will not be tolerated.

As always, if a thread or member is not to your liking there is an ignore feature. It would be wise to use it. Further comments directed at other members will be deleted. Thanks.

I gave my SA a bottle of wine that I love yesterday. She told me that I didn’t have to do it, and I explained that I wanted to. I know they don’t get commission on Birkins and she bent over backwards to get it for me to fit into a time crunch, so it was just my way of saying thank you. In the business world, small gifts are absolutely fine. No reason to exclude retail just because they are doing their jobs.

Hi, came across interesting topic, tips in Luxury boutiques. Do you tip your SA or sending them flowers/chocolate as a thank you for the service/help?
I sometimes bring treats (cookies and macaroons) to my SA. Only because he always comments on things like that on my IG! And because sometimes he cuts into his lunch break to assist me. I only do it for my most beloved SAs though.

Hi, for your reference, I did sent them some cakes once (few years back) to my SAs and they were very happy to take it and share with their colleagues. Well, I won't suggest you send the gift but food related or flower. As I was told that, other gifts (apart from food), they cannot take it personnaly but have to donate them to charity. I think if you maintain a quite good friendship with your SA, a small delicious treat would be really a bonus, especially in this year, the covid situation has been sucks.

This is what I thought - to send a box of chocolate to my SA for Xmas, as she was wonderful during the pandemic. I did ask for a few items and she managed to find it for me and send it over.
Just was not sure if it is appropriate to do and the custom in this matter. And then came across the subject and was wondering if it is a similar situation for London boutiques.
Thank you for your reply!

You are welcome. I always find useful tips from others. Glad if my experience could help you. I am not sure whether it is a good idea after this lockdown I should visit the store before the Xmas. I saw people talking about queueing outside the boutique. I am afraid that more people will come before the X'mas and it will get busier as it will have another price increase in the new year. I heard about the WISH system and my SA advised me to place one after this lockdown. I am a bit nervous to travel as well. Such a nightmare this year. I hope we are all good and hopefully get what we want eventually.

I imagine there's threads about this but searching leads to nowhere specifically .. any gift ideas for SAs that aren't food related? Want to get mine something for Xmas but with covid I read most boutiques not accepting food gifts.
