One of the activities many of us remove our rings for is baking. That dough can really get into the setting and make quite a mess. I suggest you purchase an ultrasonic cleaner and use it frequently:D

I had always heard that you are supposed to take rings off for baking for sanitary reasons, as there can be germs in the rings that can get into the food.

I was noticing this type of necklace, it seems like this kind of thing would be cool as a ring holder for ppl who need to take them off to work:

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each shape? Would you recommend platinum or white gold? (I have no problem mixing metals, so I am not trying to match)

Platinum is always preferred over white gold since white gold contains nickel which is usually allergic to the skin. And platinum is more durable than gold. Being the wedding ring, i would suggest platinum since it will last longer than white gold.

That is a really cool idea! I'd seen the necklace before but it never occurred to me to use it as a ring holder- also good whenever you need to take them off, esp. if you take them off to wash your hands or something- I don't because I'm worried about losing mine but having a safe place to put it would be great.
